Lego has unveiled a new range of minifigure sets that celebrate some of the most iconic football players in the world, including Kylian Mbappé and Vini Jr. This collection is part of a broader initiative inspired by the 2026 World Cup, which has seen Lego take a fresh approach to its football-themed products.
In addition to creating a brick-built version of the iconic World Cup trophy and an official football, Lego has released four detailed sets based on famous footballers: Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Vini Jr. Each set features a highly detailed, dual-moulded minifigure that captures the essence of the player, while also incorporating unique designs that reflect their background and career.
The sets are designed to be more than just simple models. Each one includes a base with colours from the player’s national team and is shaped like the first letter of their name. There’s also a number on the shirt and a collectable plaque that highlights the player’s stats. For example, Ronaldo’s set features Portugal’s colours and his iconic CR7 logo, along with Easter eggs about his rise to fame in Portugal. Mbappé’s set, on the other hand, recreates Paris and subtly nods to France’s World Cup victories.
Messi’s set is built on an M-shaped brick with Argentina’s colours, while Vini Jr. can be posed in a goal-scoring position, complete with exaggerated comic book-style effects made from Lego bricks.
In addition to these four sets, there are two Football Legends sets that feature Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in brick-built form. Each of these sets offers two different ways to build the player, with instructions for either a famous pose or a dynamic action shot. For instance, Ronaldo can be built in his famous Siuuu pose or performing his signature bicycle kick. These sets also include a CR7 display, a printed plaque, a new football piece, and a dual-moulded face.
Similarly, the Messi set allows for two options: his victory pose, pointing at the sky, or a running design that shows him dribbling the ball across the pitch. Both sets are designed to appeal to hardcore fans who appreciate the details and references to the players’ careers.

Another highlight of the collection is the even bigger Lionel Messi – Celebration set, which consists of 1,427 pieces and is designed as 3D wall art. This set showcases Messi in his victory pose and is filled with references to his life and career.
Lego designer Luka Grković, who worked on the sets for Ronaldo and Mbappé, shared his excitement about the project. “I’m from the Lego Editions team, which is what these sets are coming out of, and I’m a huge football fan,” he said. “They actually brought me from another team just to do these sets. So this is like a dream come true for me.”
He added, “The idea of these is to make the ultimate collectible football highlight for each player, showcasing a bit of their history as a footballer, capturing a very dynamic football kick, and having this really cool minifigure that’s highly detailed.”

The FIFA World Cup Official Trophy set is priced at £159.99, while the Football set costs £99.99. The four Football Highlights sets are all £24.99 each, and the two Football Legends sets are £69.99. The big Lionel Messi – Celebration set is also priced at £159.99.
These sets will be available from May 1, but they can be pre-ordered now from the official Lego website and other stores. They are part of the Lego Editions line of sets, which also includes other sports such as F1 and basketball, as well as recreations of various Nike trainers.
Lego has not yet revealed what else might be included in future sets, but given the success of the footballer displays, it’s easy to imagine that future collections could also feature pop stars and other celebrities.
