Patrick Dorgu has been included in Manchester United’s squad for their four-day training camp in Dublin this week as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury. The 21-year-old forward has been back on the grass after completing an individual training programme at United’s Carrington complex, showing signs of progress in his rehabilitation. However, his return to action is still some time away, with the club’s next match against Leeds United on April 13 being too soon for him to feature.
Dorgu made a notable impact during Michael Carrick’s first two matches as interim manager, scoring in both games against Manchester City and Arsenal. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury during the 3-2 victory at the Emirates Stadium, which has kept him out of the team since. Despite this setback, he remains optimistic about making a comeback before the end of the season.
On the other hand, Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt is not part of the traveling party that flew out on Monday. He is continuing his recovery from a back injury that has affected him since December. His absence is a blow to the squad, but the club is focusing on ensuring he returns fully fit.
Argentina international Lisandro Martinez is also in the squad after missing the last five league games due to a calf injury. His inclusion is a positive sign for the team’s defensive options. However, Diogo Dalot and Tom Heaton have not traveled due to illness, leaving the coaching staff to manage the available personnel carefully.
England international Kobbie Mainoo is among the players participating in the training camp, although the club has yet to finalize his new contract. This development highlights the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with key young talents within the squad.
Three academy players—Jim Thwaites, Yuel Helafu, and Victor Musa—are traveling with the team for the training camp ahead of United’s Premier League home game with Leeds on April 13, which will be broadcast live on Monday Night Football. Their presence underscores the club’s commitment to developing young talent and integrating them into the first-team environment.
Meanwhile, Shea Lacey, Chido Obi, Jack Fletcher, and Tyler Fletcher are all expected to be part of United’s U21 squad as they take on Real Madrid at Old Trafford on Tuesday. This opportunity allows the younger players to gain valuable experience against one of Europe’s top clubs.
The full Manchester United squad for the training camp includes:
