The Legal Battle Between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively Intensifies
Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively are set to face each other in court next month after a failed attempt at a last-minute settlement. The co-stars of “It Ends With Us” reportedly declined an offer to resolve the case, which involves Lively’s sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit against Baldoni.
The meeting with a New York City judge on Monday did not lead to a resolution, and the legal battle will now proceed to trial. Representatives for both actors were unavailable for comment at the time of the report.

Baldoni, 42, and Lively, 38, had separate meetings with their attorneys before the court session to update the judge on their positions regarding a potential settlement. These discussions took place after 13 of Lively’s allegations against Baldoni were dismissed on Thursday.
Only three claims remain against Baldoni: breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation. His legal team celebrated the dismissal, stating that they were pleased the court had rejected all sexual harassment claims and every claim brought against the individual defendants. They emphasized that the allegations were serious and thanked the court for its careful review of the evidence.

Lively responded to the court ruling on Instagram, sharing a detailed statement about her experience. She expressed that she never wanted to be involved in a lawsuit but felt compelled to take legal action due to the ongoing retaliation she faced for advocating for a safe working environment.
She also mentioned her gratitude for the opportunity to tell her story fully at trial, which is scheduled for May 18. In a separate post, Lively shared excerpts from the court ruling, highlighting that she provided “affirmative evidence” of retaliation and that Wayfarer Studio had “intent to spread negative content about her.”

Lively’s legal team explained that her sexual harassment claims would not go to trial because the court classified her as an independent contractor rather than an employee. This classification affected the ability to pursue certain types of claims.
Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation during the filming of “It Ends With Us” in December 2024. She filed a lawsuit against him that same month. Baldoni denied the allegations and counter-sued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for $400 million. However, a judge ultimately dismissed his lawsuit on June 25.

As the legal saga continues, several high-profile celebrities, including Taylor Swift and Scarlett Johansson, have been mentioned in unsealed documents. The case has drawn significant attention, with fans and media closely following the developments.
This ongoing legal dispute highlights the complexities of workplace relationships in the entertainment industry and the challenges of addressing allegations of harassment and retaliation. The outcome of the trial could set important precedents for future cases involving similar issues.
