In 30 Rock, Chapman portrayed Grizz, a character who was the childhood friend and later assistant of Tracy Morgan’s character, Tracy Jordan. According to reports, Chapman underwent a kidney transplant in 2010 after requiring dialysis three times a week. Speaking to CBS, he said: “I’m a little nervous about the process, but I’m definitely willing and able.” During an interview with TV doctor Dr. Oz while waiting for the transplant, he was asked about his wish. His response was simple yet powerful: “I wanna stay alive.”
