Katie Price Clarifies Husband’s Academic Credentials Amidst Public Scrutiny
In a recent high-profile television appearance, former glamour model and businesswoman Katie Price has walked back a previous assertion that her husband, Lee Andrews, holds a PhD from the esteemed Cambridge University. The 47-year-old star, making her first appearance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain in several years, sat down for what was billed as an open and candid interview with hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls.
A significant focus of the morning show discussion revolved around Price’s recent, and somewhat surprising, marriage to Dubai-based businessman Lee Andrews. The couple tied the knot in February, a union that has captured considerable public attention, particularly given that Price and Andrews reportedly met only weeks before their nuptials.
Following the announcement of her marriage, Price’s extensive fan base has been eager to learn more about the man she has chosen to spend her life with. Andrews, who maintains a carefully curated presence on social media platform Instagram, had previously presented himself as “Dr Lee Andrews,” with claims of holding a PhD from Cambridge University. However, inquiries made to the prestigious institution have reportedly yielded no record of an individual by that name having attended.
Further adding to the intrigue surrounding Andrews’ background, his social media profiles had featured images purportedly showing him with global figures such as Kim Kardashian and Elon Musk at an event in Dubai, linked to his business ventures. These images have since been identified as AI-generated and have been removed from his profiles.

During the Good Morning Britain interview, Ed Balls directly questioned Price about the PhD claims. In response, Price clarified the situation, stating, “He hasn’t got a PhD from Cambridge. It’s one in Spain. That’s for him to say why he’s got his PhD. But it’s not for Cambridge. Don’t know where that came from. He hasn’t got a PhD in Cambridge at all.” She went on to affirm that he does indeed hold a doctorate, asserting, “He has got a PhD. I’ve seen it all. I’ve seen everything I need to see,” and confirmed that it is not an honorary degree.
This admission marks a significant shift from previous statements. As recently as a week prior to the Good Morning Britain interview, Price had reiterated the Cambridge PhD claim in an interview with The Sun. At that time, she expressed some uncertainty about the specific college Andrews attended within the renowned university.
“There was so much paperwork,” Price had explained to The Sun. “His PhD, I looked through everything. The stamps are in wax, some of them. They’re not fake. You know when you’ve got certificates and it’s got the watermarks, it’s all like that. Everything he’s shown me is so legit. They’re not copies, they’re originals.”

However, when The Sun contacted Cambridge University with the provided details, including his name and date of birth, the institution stated they had no record of his attendance.
The controversy surrounding Andrews’ academic credentials emerges amidst other recent reports concerning the couple. It has been alleged that Andrews has yet to settle the bill for their wedding, which took place at a luxury Dubai hotel nearly two months ago. Furthermore, his ex-partner has reportedly described him as a “scammer,” drawing comparisons to the notorious “Tinder Swindler.”
Price has acknowledged that the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement before their marriage. Addressing the allegations of fraud, she firmly stated to the Good Morning Britain hosts that her husband is not the con artist that has been portrayed.
“I want to get to know him. He wants to get to know me,” she remarked, explaining that while Andrews has not yet met her children in person, they have communicated via FaceTime. She concluded by offering a personal perspective on her approach to relationships, saying, “No one will ever understand the way I do things.”
Good Morning Britain broadcasts on ITV1 from 6 am on weekdays.
