Adata unveils Urban Tapsafe SSD with NFC unlock and 1900MB/s speed

Adata has unveiled the Urban Tapsafe, a portable solid-state drive (SSD) that combines style, performance, and security. This marks the debut of Adata’s new Urban Series, which is focused on creating lightweight, minimalist designs while delivering advanced functionality.

Adata Urban Tapsafe Specifications

The Urban Tapsafe utilises a USB 3.2 Gen2 x2 interface, providing sequential read and write speeds of up to 1900MB/s. The SSD is available in two storage options: 1TB and 2TB. These capacities are well-suited for tasks such as 4K video editing, large-scale software development projects, or expanding storage for gaming consoles.

One of the standout features of the Urban Tapsafe is its NFC-supported security, accessible through a dedicated mobile app. Users can unlock the device simply by tapping their smartphone. The app also allows for multi-user access control, supporting up to nine users with customizable permissions such as read-only or writable access. Additionally, the device automatically locks when disconnected, ensuring data remains secure.

The Urban Tapsafe introduces a clip-on mounting system, which enables users to attach the drive directly to camera rigs or smartphone cages. This eliminates the need for extra mounting adapters, making it more convenient for creators to use the drive while on the move. Adata also includes swappable magnetic covers with the Urban Tapsafe. These covers allow users to personalise the look of the SSD or organise their work based on specific projects.

The Urban Tapsafe is compatible with a wide range of operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and Linux. It also works seamlessly with modern gaming consoles, offering additional off-console storage for games.

The SSD has a sleek and compact design, measuring 68.68 x 36.18 x 19.18 mm and weighing just 72.61g. It is available in black and comes with a five-year limited warranty, providing users with peace of mind regarding its durability and reliability.

In other tech news, Samsung recently launched an 8TB variant of the 870 EVO SSD, backed by a five-year warranty. Meanwhile, SanDisk has introduced three new portable SSDs, offering up to 4TB of storage and speeds of up to 4,000MB/s.
