Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter, Apple Martin, has publicly addressed and vehemently denied widespread rumours suggesting she was expelled from school due to bullying. The 21-year-old, whose parents are Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, stated that the circulating narratives had “gotten so out of hand” and necessitated a direct response.
The whispers about Apple’s alleged expulsion gained traction following her appearance at Le Bal des Débutantes, also known as the debutante ball, in Paris in 2024. While attending the prestigious event, stories began to surface online.
Apple, who is reportedly attending Vanderbilt University and is nearing graduation, took to her Instagram stories to share a personal statement. She posted a screenshot of a comment she had written, addressed to an unnamed individual whose name was obscured.
“Hi! I didn’t wanna respond but this narrative is completely false and has gotten so out of hand,” Apple wrote in her message. “I have never been expelled from any school, especially not for bullying anyone.”
She acknowledged the public’s right to opinion but drew a clear line at misinformation. “I completely understand ppl not liking me and that is okay! The internet is a place where ppl can share their opinions. But this rumour is completely untrue, I am not that type of person and anyone who is close to me knows that ❤️.”
The Origin of the Rumours
The genesis of these persistent rumours appears to be linked to a video that went viral approximately two years ago. This footage purportedly showed Apple inadvertently interrupting a fellow debutante’s photoshoot at an event.
However, the debutante in question later publicly refuted these claims. Speaking to People magazine at the time, she described Apple as “genuinely the nicest girl ever!” She added, “She really doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting. She was the nicest girl ever towards not only me but all the debs!” This firsthand account directly contradicted the bullying narrative.
Apple’s Evolving Career Aspirations
This clarification comes at a time when Apple Martin has been exploring her own career path, with a notable shift in her public ambitions. In a candid conversation with Vogue, she revealed that she is now looking to follow in her mother’s footsteps and pursue acting.
“I was in that rebellious, ‘I don’t wanna be like my parents’ type of phase,” Apple explained. “I don’t wanna be a singer… My dream is to act.” This statement marked a departure from earlier sentiments and indicated a desire to forge her own identity in the entertainment industry.
