Australian mistaken for Epstein Denies Infamous Pedophile Claims

Retired Man Denies Being Jeffrey Epstein After Viral Video

A retired gentleman from Florida has found himself thrust into the spotlight, compelled to publicly deny any connection to the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. The confusion arose after a video of him driving through the Sunshine State went viral, with the influencer who captured the footage erroneously claiming that Epstein was alive.

The man, who has identified himself as ‘Palm Beach Pete’, was filmed by a social media influencer while he was simply out and about in Florida. The influencer, clearly mistaken, declared in the clip that “Epstein is alive.” This misunderstanding quickly snowballed, leading Pete to create an Instagram account under the handle @NotEpstein in an attempt to set the record straight. While this account has since been removed, Pete previously shared a video explaining his situation.

“Hey everybody, this is Palm Beach Pete,” he stated in the now-deleted post. “My video went viral because some dude randomly filmed me while I was driving on I-95, unbeknownst to me. And the next thing I know, I’m a viral sensation.”

Pete explained that his life had taken a rather “crazy” turn following the video’s widespread circulation, with his appearance drawing a significant number of comments. In the original video, a voice off-camera can be heard asking, “So, you’re not Jeffrey Epstein?” Pete’s firm reply was, “I’m not Jeffrey Epstein. I’m Palm Beach Pete.”

The celebrity news outlet TMZ also caught up with Pete, who revealed that this wasn’t his first brush with viral fame. He recalled being recognised at a hockey game with his children and even appearing in the background of an episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, where he was seen greeting cast member Sonja Morgan.

“Back in the day, when I was living in the city, I went to a couple of parties and Epstein was there,” Pete shared. He described Epstein as someone who was “kinda creepy,” generally kept to himself, and at the time, wasn’t perceived as being as significant a figure as he later became. Crucially, Pete stated that he never actually met the convicted sex trafficker, nor did he ever have a conversation with him.

Pete further elaborated on Epstein’s enigmatic persona. “Epstein was ‘mysterious’,” he said, echoing sentiments shared by many others. “People didn’t know where he made his money or what his story was.”

Jeffrey Epstein died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His death, officially ruled a suicide, has fuelled numerous conspiracy theories, with many believing he was murdered or is still alive.

While Pete has not experienced any aggressive in-person confrontations regarding Epstein’s convictions and charges, he has certainly faced a barrage of negative comments online. Despite the striking resemblance that has led to this widespread confusion, Pete is adamant that he will not change his appearance.

“I’m me, I’m Palm Beach Pete,” he declared. “I’m a regular guy, I’m retired, I’ve lived in the city for a long time. I worked in commercial real estate. I love to play tennis, I’m very social, I’m not going to change.”

He added with a touch of defiance, “This guy is dead. He was a really bad person. I can hold my head high – I didn’t do anything. I’m just a better looking version than Jeffrey.”
