Dame Donna Langley to Receive Esteemed BAFTA Fellowship
In a significant recognition of her profound impact on the global entertainment landscape, Dame Donna Langley, the esteemed Chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment, is set to be honoured with the BAFTA Fellowship at the upcoming EE BAFTA Film Awards. This prestigious award stands as the Academy’s ultimate accolade, reserved for individuals who have demonstrated an outstanding and exceptional contribution to the realms of film, games, or television.
Dame Donna, aged 58, has carved a remarkable career path, long championing emerging talent and visionary showrunners. Her journey to the pinnacle of Hollywood was notably trailblazing; she became the first British woman to helm a major Hollywood studio, a feat achieved after her move from the UK to Los Angeles, a city where she initially had no industry connections. Today, her purview at NBCUniversal encompasses the entirety of the entertainment division’s creative strategy, business operations, production, acquisitions, marketing, and distribution.
The glittering ceremony, celebrating the year’s finest cinematic achievements and the creative minds behind them, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 22, at the iconic Royal Festival Hall, nestled within London’s Southbank Centre. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The Fellowship Award is bestowed upon Dame Donna in acknowledgement of her transformative leadership, particularly her adept navigation of an industry undergoing rapid change and disruption. Her sustained commitment to fostering inclusion and building robust talent pipelines has also been a cornerstone of her distinguished career.

Speaking about this immense honour, Dame Donna expressed her deep gratitude. “It is an incredible honour to be chosen as this year’s recipient of the BAFTA Fellowship,” she stated. “As a Brit, to be recognised by my home country, by my peers and fellow colleagues in the industry, is an absolute privilege. I wouldn’t be receiving this award without the indelible vision of the creative partners who have defined my career.” She further emphasised BAFTA’s standing, noting, “BAFTA remains the gold standard of excellence in the U.K. for film and television, and I take great pride in working with so many local artists who are shaping the future of this business. I feel lucky every day to be part of this community.”
Sara Putt, the Chair of BAFTA, echoed these sentiments, highlighting Dame Donna’s significant cultural footprint. “The first British woman to lead a major Hollywood studio, Dame Donna Langley’s cultural impact has been exceptional,” Putt commented. “BAFTA is honoured to celebrate Donna’s transformative studio leadership, and strength of her creative relationships, including the many now-iconic films she has brought to audiences around the world.”
The BAFTA Fellowship has previously been awarded to luminaries such as Dame Helen Mirren and Sir Ridley Scott. Last year, at the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards, the honour was bestowed upon the talented Warwick Davis. Dame Donna’s own significant contributions were further acknowledged when she was appointed a Dame Commander of the British Empire in the 2020 New Year Honours for her services to film and entertainment.

This year’s EE BAFTA Film Awards will be hosted by the charismatic Alan Cumming, who takes over the reins from “Doctor Who” star David Tennant. The glamorous event, which celebrates the pinnacle of cinematic artistry, will be accessible not only through BBC One and iPlayer but also via Britbox for audiences in the US and Australia.
The EE BAFTA Film Awards encompass 25 competitive categories, with winners determined by the votes of BAFTA’s extensive membership. BAFTA proudly represents the UK’s largest voting body for film, games, and television, comprising nearly 14,000 creative practitioners from across the screen industries, both within the UK and internationally.
The voting process for the Film Awards commenced with the first round opening on December 5, 2025. The 2025 ceremony proved to be a significant draw, attracting an average of 3 million viewers on BBC One, with an additional 64 million video views across BAFTA’s social media platforms, underscoring the widespread appeal and engagement with the awards.
