The State Minister expressed his profound dissatisfaction with the BCB’s decision to forgo the 2026 World Cup, believing that alternative outcomes could have been achieved through different diplomatic avenues. He elaborated, “You know that because of diplomatic complications, we could not play in the World Cup. If those issues had been discussed and settled earlier, our team might have participated.” This statement points towards a belief that proactive engagement and earlier dialogue could have averted the current predicament.
The vacant spot in the 2026 T20 World Cup, which was to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, has been filled by Scotland. The Scottish team, while not advancing to the Super 8 stage, showcased a commendable performance in the tournament.
