Jockey Brian Hayes Unharmed After Fall, Days After Pregnancy Announcement
Jockey Brian Hayes, husband of celebrated jockey Rachael Blackmore, experienced a significant fall during a race in England recently. The incident occurred just days after the couple shared the joyous news that they are expecting their first child together.
The couple had been cherishing a special period following the announcement of their impending parenthood when Hayes, also a professional jockey, met with an accident. It’s understood that the fall happened while Hayes was competing in England over the weekend. He had travelled to the UK specifically to participate in races at Haydock.
Hayes was reportedly on track to win the race aboard the Willie Mullins-trained horse, Chart Topper. However, he took a tumble at the second last hurdle. Fortunately, reports indicate that Hayes escaped the incident without sustaining any injuries. An insider confirmed that the jockey was unharmed and was back in the saddle the very next day. He had already travelled back to Ireland to compete in two races at Punchestown Racecourse in Kildare on Sunday.
A Look Back at Rachael Blackmore and Brian Hayes’ Private Life
Rachael Blackmore and Brian Hayes have historically maintained a private approach to their personal lives. The couple exchanged vows in a discreet wedding ceremony back in January. While images of the couple on their wedding day were not immediately shared with the public, fans were delighted when Brian later confirmed his marriage to Rachael in his hometown of Cork during an interview with Racing TV.
“Oh, yeah, I got married last…10 days ago,” Brian stated at the time. “Myself and Rachael and I got married, so yeah, off the market.” He described it as a “lovely day,” with the ceremony taking place on a Friday at their home in Rosscarbery. This was followed by a larger celebration with friends and family in Cavan on the Monday. “It was nice to get married finally,” he added, mentioning that their honeymoon would be scheduled for a later date.

He elaborated on their post-wedding plans, saying, “We were racing two days later. But yeah, we might go somewhere in June there. We have a month off in June. So we might do something.”

The couple once again surprised their many supporters when they revealed they are expecting their first child. Rachael shared the news on social media, posting a picture of a box containing a buggy in the boot of her car. “Boot contents looking a little bit different now,” Rachael captioned the image, which showcased her Volvo XC60.

The announcement of their growing family has been met with widespread congratulations and well wishes from the racing community and beyond. The news of Hayes’ fall, though concerning, has been tempered by the positive confirmation of his swift return to racing and his overall well-being. The couple’s journey, marked by significant personal milestones and professional achievements, continues to capture the attention and admiration of many.
