The Rigorous Training Regimen Behind Braith Anasta’s Transformation
Braith Anasta, a former NRL premiership winner, has shared the intense training routine that has helped him maintain an elite physique at the age of 44. His journey involves early morning starts and a disciplined approach to fitness, which he has been documenting alongside strength coach Sean McInroy.
Anasta’s program is designed to push both strength and endurance to their limits. It combines functional strength work with high-intensity conditioning, making it a style of training commonly seen in professional sports rather than general fitness.
Key Components of the Training Program
A typical session includes:
- Heavy deadball carries: This exercise targets the core and lower body while improving grip strength.
- Dumbbell push presses: A compound movement that builds upper body strength and stability.
- Renegade rows: This exercise works the back, shoulders, and core simultaneously.
- Reverse lunges: A great way to build leg strength and improve balance.
These exercises are performed at high repetitions, followed by punishing cardio efforts on the ski erg and rowing machine. The structure leaves little room for rest, forcing Anasta to move continuously between exercises while keeping his heart rate elevated.

Adding Running Sessions to the Mix
In addition to his gym sessions, Anasta has incorporated regular running into his routine. He recently shared footage of early morning runs with McInroy, focusing on building a strong conditioning base. These sessions include 5 to 10 kilometre runs and additional cardio work several times a week.
This hybrid training approach mirrors the pre-season routines used in rugby league, where strength, power, and endurance are all developed simultaneously.
The Discipline Required
The discipline required for this routine has been just as demanding as the sessions themselves. Anasta admitted that working three jobs and caring for two young daughters made it easy to make excuses. However, he found satisfaction in pushing through the tough days.
His day often starts before sunrise, with workouts beginning as early as 4.30am and lasting up to two hours. The consistency of this routine has been crucial, especially when combined with a strict diet.

Diet and Supplements
Anasta has cut out junk food and followed a high-protein, low-carb plan, helping to reduce body fat while maintaining muscle mass. He also credits a daily supplement as part of his routine.
“Taking Calmerceuticals every morning first thing has been the game changer,” he said.
The Results
The results have been dramatic. In recent posts, Anasta has shown off a noticeably leaner frame, defined chest, and improved conditioning, drawing widespread attention from fans. However, he believes the biggest shift has come mentally.
“I started feeling average both physically and mentally,” he said. What followed was a complete reset built on structure and accountability, with McInroy playing a central role in guiding his training.
After weeks of consistent effort, Anasta says he is now back where he wants to be physically and more motivated than ever. “It’s never too late and you’ve always got time,” he told followers. “Your next move matters more than your last mistake.”
