Iconic Props from And Just Like That to Be Auctioned
Fans of Sex and The City have a unique opportunity to own a piece of television history. A collection of iconic props and costumes from the show’s spin-off, And Just Like That, is set to be auctioned. This includes items that once belonged to Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, and her late husband, Mr Big.
The auction, organized by Julien’s, will feature a variety of memorabilia, including Carrie’s suitcases and an engraved watch belonging to Mr Big. These items are expected to fetch between 300-500 US dollars for the suitcases and 800-1000 dollars for the watch and jewellery box. Other notable items include the manuscript of Carrie’s Loved And Lost book, which is estimated to sell for 200-300 dollars, as well as a jumpsuit worn by Cynthia Nixon’s character, Miranda, and her Bottega Veneta clutch bag.
Furniture and More from the Show
In addition to clothing and accessories, furniture from the show will also be up for sale. A chandelier from the set is expected to sell for 600-800 dollars, while a Louis XVI-style Demilune Credenza could reach 1000-2000 dollars. Each item will come with a Certificate of Authenticity from Warner Bros Discovery, ensuring its provenance.
The auction will take place over two days in Gardenia, California, on April 30 and May 1. This marks the first time fans will have the chance to purchase items directly from the production of And Just Like That, which premiered in 2021. The series revisited the beloved characters from the original Sex And The City show, which ran from 1998 to 2004.
A Unique Opportunity for Collectors
Martin Nolan, co-founder and executive director of Julien’s Auctions, emphasized the significance of this auction. He stated that the event features an unparalleled selection of iconic fashions and furnishings, bridging high-end living with pop culture collecting. The auction provides fans with a chance to preserve the legacies of their favourite characters.
By merging luxury with media, Julien’s is meeting the growing demand for lifestyle-led collecting, where every piece tells a story. This approach appeals to both collectors and fans who appreciate the cultural impact of the show.
Supporting a Meaningful Cause
After the auction, Warner Bros Discovery will make a one-time donation to You Gotta Believe (YGB), a charity focused on finding permanent families for pre-teens, teenagers, and young adults in foster care. This cause was especially close to the late actor Willie Garson, who portrayed Stanford Blatch on And Just Like That and Sex And The City. Garson adopted his son, Nathen, from foster care and served on YGB’s advisory board. Nathen is now a current member of the non-profit’s advisory board.
The Legacy of And Just Like That
The show, which saw Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis reprise their roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York, ran for three seasons. It ended with a two-part finale that saw Carrie embracing being ‘on her own.’ The original Sex And The City show ran from 1998 to 2004, with two films released in 2008 and 2010.
And Just Like That was first announced in January 2021, 11 years after the release of Sex and the City 2. The show has reignited interest in the characters and their stories, offering a fresh perspective on the world of New York City and the lives of its residents.
