Reality TV Star Cass Lacelle Dies at 34 After Brave Cancer Battle
The Australian entertainment world is mourning the loss of reality television personality Cass Lacelle, who passed away on February 11th at the age of 34. Lacelle was known for her vibrant presence on the Freeform reality series Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, which aired in 2024. Her death comes less than a year after she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
News of Lacelle’s passing was shared via a heartfelt statement on Instagram, expressing profound sadness at her departure. “It is with profound sadness that we share the news that our beloved Cass has passed after her short but incredibly courageous battle with cancer,” the statement read. It went on to highlight the significant impact she had on those around her, describing her as a force of nature who lived life to the fullest.
Lacelle’s legacy is described as immeasurable, with the statement emphasizing her ability to make life feel precious and to be embraced wholeheartedly. She is remembered for her aversion to boredom and her unique gift for making people feel truly alive. “She was the definition of memorable; in just 34 years, she made an extraordinary impact on everyone who crossed her path,” the tribute continued. “She taught us that life is precious, meant to be embraced wholeheartedly and never wasted. Boredom was her biggest enemy. Cass had a rare gift for making people feel truly alive and bringing everyone together, she was the glue.”
A Courageous Fight Against a Rare Diagnosis
Cass Lacelle bravely shared her diagnosis in May 2025. She revealed that she had been diagnosed with Mucinous adenocarcinoma, a rare cancer that had manifested as a tumour in her left ovary.

Following her diagnosis, Lacelle underwent emergency surgery last summer to remove the tumour. She also completed three rounds of chemotherapy, demonstrating immense strength and resilience in the face of her illness.
However, by January, Lacelle’s health had taken a turn for the worse. She shared that her cancer had metastasized, spreading to her liver, stomach, abdominal lining, and omentum. This progression led to significant pain and persistent nausea, as she described: “Some days are better than others but there hasn’t been a pain free day for me since mid-November.”
The side effects of her cancer treatments also took a toll. Lacelle mentioned feeling “loopy” and experiencing extreme fatigue due to the cancer drugs and pain management. She expressed her appreciation for the outpouring of love and support, even when she was unable to respond. “Due to the side effects of chemo and pain management I am often unable to respond but please know how much I appreciate your love,” she wrote. She had been admitted to hospital on December 6th and anticipated a lengthy stay, with her first round of bi-weekly chemotherapy beginning on December 24th.
