CBS Announces 2026 TV Schedule with Renewals and Cancellations
CBS has made several notable announcements regarding its 2026 TV schedule, with a mix of positive developments and some disappointing news. The network started the year on a high note by renewing ten shows and quickly ordering a second season for Marshals and CIA. However, not all news was good, as two shows—comedy DMV and medical drama Watson—were abruptly cancelled.
The cancellation of DMV and Watson came as a surprise to many fans. CBS revealed the finale dates for both shows just hours before the latest episode of DMV aired, making the end feel more sudden than expected.
DMV Is Ending After One Season
DMV was officially cancelled on Friday, March 27, leaving fans with just a weekend to come to terms with the news before CBS announced the date for the series finale. The comedy premiered in October 2025 as CBS’s only new sitcom of the season. At the time, there were hopes for a second season, especially after The Neighborhood ended and CBS reduced its number of comedies.
The show featured strong comedic talent, including SNL veteran Tim Meadows and Harriet Dyer from Colin from Accounts. However, despite these efforts, DMV struggled with low ratings and became one of the most disappointing cancellations of the spring.
When the Finale Will Air
Fans can expect to see the series finale of DMV on Monday, May 11 at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The episode will also be available for streaming the next day via a Paramount+ subscription. This night will mark the end of several shows, as it will also feature the finale of The Neighborhood, which ran for eight seasons compared to DMV‘s single season.
These finales will be among the earlier ones in CBS’s spring schedule, following Matlock, Watson, and NCIS: Origins.
In addition to the finale, DMV will take a week off on April 6 when CBS broadcasts a special farewell for The Neighborhood. The remaining five episodes will air weekly without further breaks. The other two Monday night shows, FBI and CIA, will not air their finales until a week later, on May 18.
What to Expect from the Finale
A key question remains whether the finale will provide any closure for fans. It is unclear if production on Season 1 was completed before the cancellation announcement. Network sitcoms typically don’t require much closure unless there are significant relationship developments, so the ending for characters like Colette and Gregg should be interesting to watch.
For now, viewers can continue tuning in to CBS on Mondays at 8:30 p.m. ET for the remaining episodes of DMV.
