Cena’s Scolding: Star’s Social Media Meltdown

Wrestling icon John Cena recently had a rather awkward run-in with social media personality Harry Daniels, and the entire cringeworthy exchange has been captured on video for the internet to dissect. Daniels, who has carved out a niche for himself by approaching celebrities and bursting into song – often their own hits – shared the peculiar encounter on Wednesday, March 25.

John Cena Gives TikTok Star a Talking-To

The video clip in question shows Daniels, a 22-year-old influencer, launching into a rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Invisible String” while the 48-year-old athlete, John Cena, was seated, engrossed in his phone. Cena, clearly taken aback, rose to his feet and addressed the TikTok star. “How about you start with a, ‘Hello, how you doing?'” he suggested.

Following this initial interaction, the two men shook hands. Cena, known for his roles in films like Daddy’s Home, introduced himself, saying, “I’m John, nice to meet you.” He then questioned Daniels’ impromptu performance: “Would you like to sing now? For what purpose?” Daniels, in turn, explained that he was merely performing a routine.

Cena, however, wasn’t buying it. “I’m not buying what you’re selling,” he stated firmly before walking away. Daniels, with a smile, responded, “OK, thank you!”

Influencer Admits to a “Bad” Approach

Harry Daniels later took to social media to poke fun at his own awkward attempt at interacting with the wrestling superstar. Alongside the video clip, he wrote, “I saw John Cena at a cafe and started signing but my approach was just so bad that the whole thing went haywire.” He further took responsibility in the caption, confessing, “Ok this ones on me cuz i had no decorum my bad sorry john cena.”

Social Media Weighs In on the Viral Clip

Daniels’ followers were quick to express their sympathy for the influencer. One commenter remarked, “Oooo this was hard to watch 😢.” Another user defended Daniels, stating, “I don’t think he was rude he was just like d— can you say hello first lol.” A third person chimed in with relatable empathy, writing, “wait why did I get second hand hurt feelings for you 😭.” The general sentiment among his fans was that while the approach was a bit jarring, it wasn’t malicious.

John Cena’s Past Experience with Online Bullying

This isn’t the first time John Cena has found himself on the receiving end of public scrutiny. The WWE star revealed in 2025 that he underwent a hair transplant procedure after social media users relentlessly mocked his receding hairline.

Cena expressed his distress over the online taunts, stating in an interview, “You guys ripped me to shreds for a genetic problem that I can’t control. In unison, you chant and make me feel small and embarrass me. That is straight-up bullying and not cool.” He added, “Thank you for bullying me into surgical hair replacement. That’s how far y’all pushed me.”

He continued to explain his perspective, saying, “There is no shame in that. [Balding] happens to seven out of 10 dudes. I got a problem, I try to fix it. Hopefully in a couple of months, it looks better.” This experience highlights the pressures celebrities face regarding their public image and the impact of online commentary.
