Pop Star’s Security Sparks Controversy After Alleged Incident with Footballer’s Daughter
A recent incident at a hotel in São Paulo has ignited a firestorm of accusations against the security team of pop sensation Chappell Roan. The daughter of renowned footballer Jorginho and actress Catherine Harding was reportedly left “in tears” after an alleged aggressive encounter with Roan’s security personnel.
The 11-year-old girl, who was travelling with her mother, was reportedly staying at the same hotel as the American singer – born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, 28 – by sheer coincidence. Roan was in Brazil to perform at the Lollapalooza music festival on Saturday, March 21st.
A Child’s Excitement Meets a “Disproportionate” Response
According to Jorginho, 34, his daughter, who was incredibly excited to see Roan, had even prepared a sign to express her admiration. The footballer recounted that the young girl spotted the “Pink Pony Club” singer at breakfast and, with innocent enthusiasm, simply walked past Roan’s table, confirmed it was her, smiled, and then returned to her own seat.
“She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything,” Jorginho stated, emphasizing the harmless nature of his daughter’s actions.
However, the situation took a distressing turn when, as Jorginho described, a “large” security guard approached their table. The guard reportedly spoke to Harding and her daughter in an “extremely aggressive manner,” accusing the child of “harassing” other guests.

“In Tears” and “Extremely Shaken”
The footballer expressed his deep upset over the incident, stating that the security guard even threatened to file a complaint with the hotel. “While my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears. My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot,” he added, highlighting the emotional distress caused to his child.
Jorginho, who has extensive experience with public figures and the associated scrutiny, stressed the importance of understanding respect and boundaries. He felt the security team’s reaction was “completely disproportionate” and “extremely aggressive,” a stark contrast to the simple admiration of a fan.
A Call for Reflection and Fan Appreciation
The sportsman reflected on the incident, expressing his disappointment that such treatment would come from individuals who should understand the significance of fans in an artist’s career.
“At the end of the day, they are the ones who build all of this,” Jorginho asserted. “I sincerely hope this serves as a moment of reflection. No one should have to go through this, especially not a child.”
He concluded his statement with a pointed message directed at Chappell Roan and her fanbase: “@chappellroan WITHOUT YOUR FANS, YOU WOULD BE NOTHING. AND TO THE FANS, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION.”
The Independent has reached out to Chappell Roan’s representatives for comment on the allegations.

Chappell Roan’s Stance on Boundaries
This incident comes in the wake of Chappell Roan’s own public statements earlier in 2024 regarding the need to “draw lines and set boundaries” with fans. Following the significant rise in fame brought about by her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, Roan shared her perspective on fan interactions.
She explained her desire to create a safe environment for herself, stating, “[I’ve wanted] to be an artist for a very long time. I’ve been in too many nonconsensual physical and social interactions and I just need to lay it out and remind you, women don’t owe you s***t.”
Roan further elaborated on her commitment to her art and personal well-being, asserting, “I chose this career path because I love music and art and honoring my inner child, I do not accept harassment of any kind because I chose this path, nor do I deserve it.”

The singer drew a clear distinction between her professional and personal life, outlining when she is “at work” and when she is not. “When I’m on stage, when I’m performing, when I’m in drag, when I’m at a work event, when I’m doing press… I am at work. Any other circumstance, I am not in work mode. I am clocked out.” This statement suggests a desire for personal space and the right to privacy when not actively engaged in professional duties.
