Charlie Woods’ Performance at the Team TaylorMade Invitational
Charlie Woods, the 17-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, recently competed in the Team TaylorMade Invitational in Florida. Despite not having his father cheering him on, Charlie managed to finish in 28th place. This was a significant departure from his previous performance, where he won the tournament last year. However, this time around, he shot a three-over par in the final round, ending the competition with a total of four-over par, which placed him 17 shots behind the new champion, Luke Ringkamp.
The event took place during a challenging period for the Woods family, as Tiger was away from the sport. He returned to Switzerland to continue his rehabilitation after being arrested for DUI in Florida in late March. During this time, Tiger also reunited with his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, who recently announced her diagnosis with breast cancer.
Tiger, a 15-time Major winner, has been undergoing ‘intense’ psychological treatment at a rehabilitation center in Switzerland to manage his dependency on painkillers. Meanwhile, Charlie has been actively pursuing his own golf career, often competing alongside his father at major events.
Challenges Faced by Charlie Woods
During the recent tournament, Charlie struggled with consistency. While he managed to card 10 birdies, he also had seven bogeys, two double bogeys, and a triple bogey throughout the competition. His performance highlighted the challenges he faces as he continues to build his career in the sport.
Last year’s victory was a significant milestone for Charlie, propelling him up the junior golf world rankings, where he is currently ranked No. 13. However, his recent performance in Florida has shown that there is still work to be done.
Tiger Woods’ Struggles and Legal Issues
Charlie’s struggles come at a time when his father, Tiger, is facing his own set of challenges. Reports suggest that Tiger has encountered another setback in his attempt to make a comeback in professional golf. Since the Open Championship at Royal Troon in 2024, Tiger has not participated in any major championship. His latest DUI arrest has extended this drought into another year.
Tiger was arrested after flipping his SUV in Jupiter Island, Florida, in March. As a result, he will miss all of the season’s majors for a second consecutive year. According to Bob Harig, Tiger will be ineligible to participate in the US Open next month due to his lack of exemption. He also did not enter the field for the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, as reported by Harig.

Tiger Woods’ Health and Career Setbacks
Since undergoing back surgery in October, Tiger has been sidelined from the sport. This was his seventh back surgery, and he also suffered a torn Achilles in March 2025, which ruled him out of last year’s major championships.
After the 2021 car crash that almost cost him his leg, Tiger has competed in just eight major championships, missing the cut in four and withdrawing from another. His return to the major stage at the Masters earlier this year was expected, but it was derailed by his DUI arrest on March 27.
According to a sheriff’s office report, deputies found two pain pills in Tiger’s pocket and observed signs of impairment after his SUV clipped a truck’s trailer and rolled onto its side. Although a breathalyzer test showed no alcohol, Tiger refused a urine test. He has since been charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test, and he has pleaded not guilty.
