Users of the AI chatbot Claude, developed by Anthropic, are set to experience service restrictions as demand for the ChatGPT rival experiences a significant surge. The Department of War officially communicated to Anthropic that it would henceforth classify the company as a “supply chain risk to national security,” a designation traditionally reserved for foreign adversaries.

We’re continuing to invest in scaling efficiently. I’ll keep you posted on progress.”
Mr Shihipar further elaborated that, based on current usage patterns, these restrictions are anticipated to affect only approximately 7 per cent of users. This is not the first instance of Anthropic introducing rate limits; the company implemented similar constraints for its paying customers in August of the previous year.
