Cohen Slams Gellar’s ‘Boring’ RHOBH Critique

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Blunt Assessment Sparks Andy Cohen’s Outrage

It appears there’s a bit of a kerfuffle brewing in the world of reality television, with a well-known actress’s candid comments about The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drawing the ire of the show’s executive producer, Andy Cohen. The drama unfolded after Sarah Michelle Gellar, the beloved star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, shared her less-than-enthusiastic opinion of the long-running Bravo series.

The incident began on March 18th, when Gellar was a guest on Page Six Radio. When asked if she was enjoying the current 15th season of RHOBH, the 48-year-old actress didn’t hold back, reportedly scoffing and declaring, “No. I think it’s boring.”

Her co-hosts on the radio segment, Evan Murray-Real and Danny Murphy, were audibly taken aback by Gellar’s frankness. While she acknowledged liking some of the cast members, specifically praising Rachel Zoe as a “great addition” and expressing admiration for Bozoma Saint John, Kathy Hilton, and Jen Tilly, she felt the overall pacing of the show was lacking. “It’s slow,” Gellar stated, adding that the season was “just picking up now.”

Her critique became even sharper when the topic turned to newcomer Amanda Frances. Gellar’s assessment was particularly cutting: “I don’t think she’s polarizing. I just don’t think anyone enjoys her.”

The timing of Gellar’s comments proved to be a significant point of contention for Andy Cohen. The 57-year-old executive producer revealed his dismay on his SiriusXM show, Andy Cohen Live. He explained that Gellar had been in his studio, Radio Andy headquarters at SiriusXM Studios within Midtown Manhattan’s Rockefeller Center, for an interview just that same day.

“And it was in our studio and then they post it and it’s like ‘Sarah Michelle Gellar hates The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ with all this Radio Andy signage everywhere,” Cohen recounted. He expressed a sense of betrayal, stating, “And I go, ‘You know what? Don’t bring someone into my studio to trash my show. How about the door is locked when I leave? How’s that? Or maybe think twice about posting that all over social media where it says ‘Andy’ everywhere behind SMG.’ She’s wrong, by the way.”

This wasn’t the first time Gellar and Cohen had crossed paths recently. The actress had also appeared on Cohen’s Bravo talk show, Watch What Happens Live, alongside RHOBH star Dorit Kemsley, on March 17th. While this interview aired on March 20th, it highlighted a seemingly amicable relationship prior to Gellar’s radio remarks.

Gellar’s Busy Schedule and Cohen’s Future Endeavours

Beyond her opinions on reality television, Sarah Michelle Gellar has been actively promoting her upcoming role. The Scream Queen, as she’s affectionately known, is set to star as Ursula Danforth in the action-horror comedy Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. Directed by Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, the film is slated for release in US theaters this Friday and in UK theaters on April 10th.

Gellar’s executive producing credits extend beyond RHOBH. She is also involved in the production of various other Real Housewives franchises, including those in Salt Lake City, Potomac, Orange County, Miami, London, Atlanta, and Rhode Island, as well as The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip.

Meanwhile, Andy Cohen has his own busy schedule ahead. He is set to host Watch What Happens Live with RHOBH star Kyle Richards and Love Overboard host Gabby Windey this Thursday. Furthermore, Cohen is slated to appear in Jorma Taccone’s upcoming DV murder comedy, Over Your Dead Body, which is scheduled to hit US theaters on April 24th. In the film, he will portray a character described as a thinly-veiled version of himself, sharing the screen with actors such as Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Juliette Lewis, and Timothy Olyphant.

On a personal note, Cohen is a proud father of two, Benjamin Allen, aged seven, and Lucy Eve, who is nearly four. Both children were born via gestational surrogacy. The Missouri-born presenter reportedly has two remaining frozen embryos, a decision made to potentially allow his children to have siblings in the future if they desire.
