Rising Star Faces Legal Challenges
Tanner Usrey, a 32-year-old country singer known for hits such as “Take Me Home” and “Hold On To Me,” recently found himself in legal trouble. The artist was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and drug possession in Texas on Monday. According to reports, the McKinney Police Department in Collin County took him into custody on March 30.
Usrey was released the same day after posting a $12,500 bond, as per Collin County jail records. He faces charges of DWI and two counts of drug possession. This is his second DWI charge, according to the booking information. Despite these recent legal issues, Usrey has made a name for himself in the music industry.
A Growing Career in Music
Usrey gained wider recognition in the industry after releasing his debut studio album, Crossing Lines, in 2023. His career began long before this release, as he started performing on stage in the early 2010s. One of his tracks, “The Light,” was featured in an episode of the hit series Yellowstone in 2022. This exposure helped boost his profile and led to a deal with Atlantic Records, where he officially dropped Crossing Lines.
In 2024, Usrey released his second LP titled These Days. Reflecting on the theme of the album, he told Rolling Stone: “It’s about heartbreak, as usual, but the overall theme is more mature than what I’ve been writing about.” He added, “It’s about counting the little wins, and that’s why I named it These Days.”
“I want to appreciate every little moment, and every day that I make it through, and everybody else makes it through. It’s not all self-destruction anymore, it’s about real stuff.”

Live Performances and Future Plans
Usrey is known for his energetic live performances. When asked about the kind of shows he likes to put on for fans, he said: “I just want people to think it’s the best show they’ve been to. It sounds cocky, but that’s what I want: ‘Dn, that band’s f*ing tight. He can sing.'”
The country singer has several upcoming performances. He is set to take the stage on April 11 at the 2026 Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo in Texas. Additionally, he will perform at Larry Joe Taylor’s Texas Music Festival on April 23 and Rock the Country Bellville 2026 on May 2.
Early Life and Passion for Music
Usrey’s journey into music began at a young age. In a previous conversation with People, he recalled: “I was the annoying one that would always sing in class. I was always just humming and singing. My dad would always tell me to shut up sometimes.”

Overcoming Challenges
Throughout his career, Usrey has faced various challenges while pursuing his dreams. During an interview with the Nashville Voyager, he spoke about the struggles he encountered. “I’ve always had to fight for my place, and I don’t mind that. The challenge is worth it, and so far, it’s paid off.”
He continued: “I remember working nights from my old 9 to 5, wondering if I could play music to support myself. The minute I took a chance on myself and decided to quit that job cold turkey, it’s never been smooth, but it’s been an adventure that I continue to go on every day.”
