The 31-year-old, who gained recognition last year after his on-screen marriage to Sarah Gillanders, has now turned his focus to personal well-being, showcasing the significant physical changes he’s achieved.
Dean, a team-building host from London, initially appeared enthusiastic about his match on the reality show, expressing contentment with his pairing. However, his on-screen wife, Sarah, a recruitment consultant from Aberdeen, didn’t share the same sentiments. Their relationship on the show was marked by Sarah’s clear lack of a romantic spark and, controversially, her comments about Dean’s appearance, which drew considerable criticism from viewers and experts alike.

This was juxtaposed with a video from February of this year, showing him having reached a weight of 115kg.
In the accompanying caption, Dean expressed his satisfaction with the visible changes, stating: “The changes are starting to show. Still early in the journey and still work to do, but I’m heading towards that finish line one song at a time with my Juniper by my side. Let’s keep going.” His words highlight a determined and ongoing commitment to his health goals.

Dean’s time on Married At First Sight UK was undoubtedly challenging, and many viewers empathised with him following Sarah’s comments about his physique. During their honeymoon in the Maldives, a private moment during a beachside dinner saw Sarah, when asked by a producer if anything could spark a sexual connection with Dean, respond with: “Get some tattoos and lose some weight, maybe?”
This exchange led to stern reprimands from the show’s relationship experts, who labelled Sarah’s comments as “disrespectful.” She subsequently apologised to Dean during a Commitment Ceremony.
Following the broadcast of these scenes, Dean shared a video on TikTok acknowledging the difficulty of rewatching Sarah’s remarks. He conveyed his gratitude for the outpouring of support and kind messages from fans, many of whom urged him to remain true to himself. “I can’t lie, yesterday was a tricky one, it was tricky to watch, but your love and support has been very well received, and it has helped to put a smile on my face,” he shared. Fleeing the room, she expressed remorse, stating, “It was really hard to hear what Paul had to say and I apologised and I’m sorry. It’s not me, it’s not who I am. Maybe if I did have that spark, I wouldn’t have said anything like that. But there’s not the spark there so that was the only reason why I said it. I haven’t meant it maliciously at all.”
Speaking off-camera after the ceremony, Dean revealed his hurt, admitting, “Hearing that Sarah has been disrespecting me has caught me off guard, that is probably my biggest red flag.
