Delta Goodrem shines in gold at Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam

Delta Goodrem Shines at Eurovision in Concert

Delta Goodrem, the Australian singer, made a stunning appearance at Eurovision in Concert held at AFAS Live in Amsterdam on Saturday. At 41 years old, she delivered an impressive performance as part of the event, which showcases this year’s Eurovision Song Contest participants. The show allows the hopefuls to present their entries to fans before the main competition in May.

Dressed in a striking floor-length gold gown, Delta immediately captured attention as she stepped onto the stage. The metallic number featured a draped halter-neck design that hugged her figure and flowed to the floor. Her signature blonde hair was styled in loose waves, cascading over her shoulders, while her glowing makeup complemented the dramatic stage lighting.

The Born To Try hitmaker appeared fully immersed in the performance, belting out notes with her eyes closed. She paired the statement gown with minimal jewelry, opting for delicate pieces and stacked bracelets that added subtle sparkle.

The performance was supported by vivid projection screens, enhancing the polished production as Delta joined a lineup of international acts showcasing their songs ahead of the main event.

This performance followed Delta’s recent success in the UK, where she surprised fans with a pop-up show in London. There, she debuted her Eurovision track Eclipse live for the first time. She delighted an intimate crowd as she performed her track Eclipse, along with a selection of her greatest hits, under a bridge in Camden.

Eclipse is the track Delta will perform as Australia’s representative at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. She used the show as a road test for the track, revealing that it was the first time Eclipse had been performed live for a UK audience.

The former Neighbours star looked very much in her element, giving a masterful performance of the song on a makeshift stage. She cut a very chic figure for the show, stepping out in a striking brown faux fur coat. Delta also wore an eye-catching plaid shirt that featured a long, matching scarf panel attached to the neckline, giving a layered effect.

The veteran performer was announced as Australia’s Eurovision hopeful in March. The former Neighbours star expressed her excitement about the announcement. “I’m so honoured to represent Australia on one of the biggest and most iconic music stages in the world at Eurovision,” she said in a statement. “As a singer-songwriter, music has been my lifelong passion. I’ve always loved the creativity, individuality, and joy Eurovision brings, connecting and uniting people across the globe through music; the universal language.”

“I can’t wait to arrive in Vienna and make Australia proud.”

Australia’s Eurovision creative director, Paul Clarke, praised Delta as the “perfect choice” to carry the country’s hopes. “Delta Goodrem is a once-in-a-generation artist. Her elegant songwriting and unmatched vocal ability make her the perfect choice to represent Australia and eclipse the competition at the 70th anniversary of Eurovision in Vienna,” he said. “Her song is a bold step towards the next stage of her worldwide career, and we are excited to bring her vision to life on the stage in May.”

Speculation about a Delta Eurovision appearance has been circulating for some time now – something the singer addressed in 2023. “I’ve always loved watching Eurovision, it’s such a great moment in time,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle. “Wherever I’ve been in certain moments of time just hasn’t crossed paths with that in whatever cycle of music I was in. I’ve always been just running in my own race and whatever I’m meant to sort of cross paths with I’ll move towards that if a time feels right.”

The announcement places Delta in good company, with the likes of Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, and Kate Miller Heidke previously representing Australia at Eurovision.
