Delta Goodrem Shines in London Pop-Up Show
Delta Goodrem, the 41-year-old singer known for her hit “Born To Try,” captivated UK fans with a surprise performance in London this week. The event took place under a bridge in Camden, where she performed her track “Eclipse” alongside some of her most beloved songs. This pop-up show served as a test run for the song that will represent Australia at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
“Eclipse” is set to be Delta’s entry for the competition, and the London performance marked the first time the track was played live for a UK audience. Delta delivered a powerful and polished performance on a temporary stage, showcasing her talent and confidence on stage. Her appearance was not only impressive but also stylish, as she made a striking impression in a brown faux fur coat.
A Chic and Layered Outfit
Delta’s outfit for the event featured an eye-catching plaid shirt with a long, matching scarf panel attached to the neckline, creating a layered look. She paired the relaxed-fit, long-sleeve shirt with light brown tailored wide-leg trousers, adding a touch of elegance to her ensemble. Completing the look were brown suede boots, which added a casual yet sophisticated edge.
To protect her eyes from the sun, Delta opted for large black sunglasses, keeping her accessories minimal. However, she did not forget to express her national pride by waving an Australian flag during her performance.
A Special Collaboration
Delta partnered with Tim Tam, an iconic Australian biscuit brand, for the event. Later, she shared a clip of the experience on Instagram, captioning it with excitement: “Popping up in London today and performing Eclipse for the first time in person for my UK fam on a glorious sunny day!!! And what better way to do it than with THE Australian icon.”
The post also included footage of Delta tossing handfuls of Tim Tams into the crowd, showing her fun side and connecting with her fans. She also took the time to meet and greet her UK supporters, who were clearly thrilled to be in her presence.
A Proud Representation
Delta was officially announced as Australia’s Eurovision representative in March. The former Neighbours star expressed her excitement about the opportunity, stating, “I’m so honoured to represent Australia on one of the biggest and most iconic music stages in the world at Eurovision.”
She highlighted the significance of the event, noting that music has always been her passion. “I’ve always loved the creativity, individuality, and joy Eurovision brings, connecting and uniting people across the globe through music; the universal language,” she said.
Expert Endorsement
Australia’s Eurovision creative director, Paul Clarke, praised Delta as the perfect choice to carry the country’s hopes. He stated, “Delta Goodrem is a once-in-a-generation artist. Her elegant songwriting and unmatched vocal ability make her the perfect choice to represent Australia and eclipse the competition at the 70th anniversary of Eurovision in Vienna.”
He also mentioned that Delta’s song marks a bold step forward in her global career, expressing excitement about bringing her vision to life on stage in May.
A Long History of Representation
Delta joins a list of previous Australian Eurovision representatives, including Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, and Kate Miller-Heidke. Last year’s entrant, Go-Jo, faced challenges after his song “Milkshake Man” failed to secure a spot in the finals.
