Valentine Holmes Plants Roots in Shire Territory with Substantial Property Acquisition
Rugby league star Valentine Holmes, a prominent figure for the St George Illawarra Dragons and a Queensland and Australian representative, has made a significant property move, purchasing a substantial family home in Caringbah South, a suburb deeply entwined with his former club’s territory. The acquisition, reportedly costing $2.7 million, signals a new chapter for Holmes and his wife, Natalia.
Holmes, a utility back known for his speed and versatility, previously enjoyed a successful stint with the Cronulla Sharks, even clinching an NRL premiership with the club in 2016. His career then took him north to the North Queensland Cowboys before his recent return to Sydney to join the Dragons in 2025, a move that sees him playing for a traditional rival of his former team.
The newly purchased residence in Caringbah South is described as a beautifully crafted four-bedroom home, constructed in 1975. Property marketing materials paint a picture of a dream family retreat, blending timeless Mediterranean-inspired design with contemporary comforts. Nestled within a highly sought-after pocket of the Sutherland Shire, the home is presented as an ideal sanctuary for families seeking a secure and vibrant lifestyle, with close proximity to natural amenities and reputable local schools. The emphasis is on a low-maintenance lifestyle, with every detail thoughtfully considered to enhance comfort and enjoyment.
The interior of the Holmes’ new abode is bathed in natural light, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. It boasts multiple distinct areas perfect for unwinding, hosting guests, and spending quality time with family. The property’s features include luxurious finishes throughout, an open-plan living area designed for seamless flow, and an impressive alfresco space complete with a large swimming pool, promising endless opportunities for relaxation and entertainment.

Queensland Property Portfolio Sees Activity
Coinciding with this significant Sydney acquisition, the Holmes’ have also been active in divesting property in Queensland. Their North Ward home, located in Queensland, has recently been listed for sale, approximately a year after their relocation to Sydney. This Queensland property is a substantial residence, featuring four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and ample parking space for three vehicles.
Known as ‘David House,’ the property sits on a generous 1518 square metre block. Its character is enhanced by a charming wraparound verandah, classic timber floors, and high ceilings, contributing to an airy and spacious feel. The asking price for this Queensland asset is set at offers over $1.998 million. Valentine and Natalia, who is also a co-owner of First Base gym, originally purchased this home in 2023 for $1.405 million. Following Valentine’s signing of a three-year deal with the Dragons, the couple opted to rent out the property.

Further adding to their property dealings, a 1930s home owned by the couple in Melton Hill, Queensland, was initially listed with an asking price of offers over $1.3 million. This property ultimately sold in June 2023 for $1.15 million. The three-bedroom house, situated on a 910 square metre parcel of land, had undergone renovations prior to its sale. Records indicate that the Holmes’ purchased this Melton Hill residence in 2019 for $1.1 million.

Investment Property in Woolooware Bay Remains in Holmes’ Portfolio
Beyond their personal residences, Valentine Holmes also holds an investment property in the Woolooware Bay precinct. This acquisition is a two-bedroom apartment, part of a larger development of approximately 700 apartments situated near Shark Park. Holmes purchased this apartment for $810,000 upon its completion in 2016.

Current records indicate that Holmes retains ownership of this apartment. It was most recently advertised for rent at a rate of $650 per week, demonstrating its ongoing utility as an investment. This property purchase, made during his time with the Sharks, highlights a strategic approach to property investment in areas close to his former club’s home ground.
