During the works, there will also be a parking ban as well as a ban on waiting, loading and unloading. The diversion route will be via Carlton Road, Vale Road and Southcote Road. Full access for emergency services will be maintained. Access to individual properties will depend on site safety.

The council said the arrangements may be altered or extended if works overrun or weather conditions delay progress. These restrictions could potentially remain in place for up to 18 months under the traffic regulation order, and could be further extended with approval from the Secretary of State.
