Duketon Drills Barlee: Maiden Program Targets 6 High-Grade Prospects

Duketon Mining (ASX:DKM) is gearing up for a significant exploration push in Western Australia, with its maiden aircore and reverse circulation (RC) drilling program set to commence at the Barlee project. The company is targeting six highly-rated gold-in-soil anomalies, representing a compelling opportunity to uncover new gold discoveries.

Barlee Project: A New Frontier for Gold Exploration

The Barlee project, situated approximately 200 kilometres north of Southern Cross in WA, is poised to become the focus of Duketon Mining’s exploration efforts. Drilling is scheduled to kick off early next week, with a rig already mobilising to the site. This maiden program signifies a crucial step for the company, as it aims to test previously undrilled targets identified through extensive work.

Managing Director Stuart Fogarty expressed his enthusiasm for the Barlee project, highlighting the considerable effort invested in consolidating the land package and generating foundational geological datasets. “We have undertaken considerable work in consolidating the Barlee package and generating foundational geological datasets to identify multiple high-quality targets which have never been drilled previously,” Fogarty stated. He further emphasised the scale and amplitude of these targets, making the upcoming drill program particularly compelling.

The exploration strategy at Barlee has been informed by a detailed aeromagnetic survey conducted over a key area of the project. This was complemented by a thorough project review, which included structural interpretation and sophisticated targeting. This multi-faceted approach has allowed Duketon Mining to pinpoint promising zones for drill testing.

Drill Program Details and Key Prospects

The upcoming drilling campaign at Barlee will encompass approximately 4,000 metres of aircore drilling and 1,500 metres of RC drilling. The primary objective is to systematically test the six identified prospects, which were delineated through geochemical sampling conducted in CY25.

The six key prospects to be tested are:

  • Astro: This prospect is characterised by a substantial anomaly measuring 1,800 metres by 800 metres. The geochemical sampling returned a peak gold value of 204 parts per billion (ppb).

  • Scooby: An anomaly of 900 metres by 450 metres has been identified at Scooby, with the highest gold assay reaching 57 ppb.

  • Tiger: This prospect boasts an anomaly spanning 1,200 metres by 700 metres. Gold values here peaked at 230 ppb.

  • Gromit: Measuring 1,000 metres by 450 metres, the Gromit anomaly has returned the highest gold value recorded in the program, reaching an impressive 235 ppb.

  • Odie: While smaller in scale, measuring 350 metres by 250 metres, the Odie anomaly still presents an interesting target with a maximum gold assay of 37 ppb.

  • Lost Bolt: This prospect features a significant anomaly measuring 1,700 metres by 1,000 metres, with a peak gold value of 211 ppb.

Broader Exploration Context: Boodanoo Gold Project

The Barlee drilling program follows closely on the heels of another significant exploration initiative undertaken by Duketon Mining. Earlier this month, the company commenced its inaugural RC drill program at the Boodanoo gold project. This project is strategically located around 80 kilometres north-east of Paynes Find and approximately 40 kilometres east of the Kirkalocka gold project, also within Western Australia. The Boodanoo program is designed to comprise approximately 1,000 metres of drilling, spread across up to 20 holes, further demonstrating Duketon’s commitment to advancing its gold exploration portfolio.
