EDM Block Party Returns to San Francisco – What You Need to Know

San Francisco’s Midway Becomes the Epicenter of Fourth of July Celebrations

One of San Francisco’s most popular music venues is preparing to take center stage for the city’s Fourth of July festivities. The Midway, a well-known spot for electronic dance music (EDM) events, has announced plans to host two consecutive nights of live performances during the holiday weekend. This move positions the venue as a prime destination for locals and visitors looking to celebrate Independence Day with a unique blend of music and entertainment.

The event lineup includes some of the biggest names in the EDM scene. On July 4, fans can expect an electrifying performance featuring producer and DJ Deadmau5, the electronic trio Nero, and house artist Christoph. These acts will set the tone for a night filled with high-energy beats and vibrant energy at the Dogpatch venue. The following day, on July 5, the party continues with a throwback celebration of 2000s nostalgia, headlined by hip-hop star Nelly. While supporting acts for Nelly’s show have not yet been revealed, the anticipation is already building.

Tickets for both nights are now available through presales, with the first night going on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, and the second night opening at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14. General sales for each event will begin at noon on those same days. Fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early to ensure they don’t miss out on the action.

These upcoming shows are part of the Midway’s ongoing block party series, which features a dozen events throughout the summer and into Halloween. Each block party transforms the Midway and the surrounding Michigan and Marin streets into a lively festival atmosphere, complete with multiple stages, food trucks, and other attractions. The series has become a staple for music lovers in the Bay Area, offering a diverse range of performances and experiences.

Previous events in the block party series have included appearances by masked EDM duo ATLiens on June 13 and producers Zedd and Galantis during Pride weekend from June 27 to 28. These events highlight the growing popularity of EDM in the region, which has seen a surge in interest over the past few years.

The success of major festivals like Goldenvoice’s Portola Music Festival at Pier 80 and the expanded electronic programming at Outside Lands, held annually at Golden Gate Park, underscores the increasing demand for EDM in the Bay Area. As the genre continues to gain traction, local venues are stepping up their game to provide more immersive and exciting experiences for fans.

Just last week, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie unveiled the lineup for a free EDM concert celebrating Om Record’s 30th anniversary. The event, scheduled for May 9 at Embarcadero Plaza, will feature DJs Mark Farina, Colette b2b DJ Heather, Shiny Objects, and J Boogie. Organized by Another Planet Entertainment in partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, this free daytime show is another example of how the city is embracing the growing influence of electronic music.

With its mix of world-class performers, community engagement, and vibrant atmosphere, the Midway is set to become a key player in San Francisco’s music scene. Whether you’re a longtime fan of EDM or just looking for a fun way to celebrate the Fourth of July, the Midway promises an unforgettable experience.
