Jaydn Su’A’s Potential Move to Parramatta Eels
Jaydn Su’A has already signed a three-year deal with the Parramatta Eels, marking his official switch from the Dragons for next season. However, there is now growing speculation that this move could happen earlier than expected.
Reports indicate that although Su’A is still under contract with the Dragons for the remainder of the year, both clubs are open to the possibility of an early release, depending on how negotiations proceed. Despite the Dragons’ winless start to the season, they are not thought to be overly concerned about the prospect of Su’A leaving sooner than planned.
Club officials are believed to feel that Su’A’s performances have not consistently met expectations, especially in relation to his role and salary. For the Parramatta Eels, however, there is strong motivation to bring Su’A in immediately.
The Eels are currently facing a significant injury problem, with as many as eight players unavailable across the squad. Their forward depth has been severely stretched at a crucial point in the season. Sunday’s game added to their woes when second-rowers Kelma Tuilagi and Kitione Kautoga went off for HIA assessments, as well as prop Sam Tuivaiti.
Although Kautoga has already been cleared to return, Tuilagi and Tuivaiti remain under the 11-day stand-down protocol, further limiting Parramatta’s immediate options in the pack.
Su’A, an experienced NRL forward and State of Origin representative, would be a major addition if an early release can be agreed upon. The Eels hope that a fresh environment under new systems could help him quickly rediscover his best form, while also easing the strain on their depleted forward rotation.
For the Dragons, Su’A’s early departure could also lead to a broader squad shift. With the club struggling through a difficult season, releasing a high-profile player sooner may create opportunities for younger forwards to gain valuable first-grade experience heading into next year.
At this stage, Su’A’s move to Parramatta is confirmed — the only question is whether fans will see him in blue and gold sooner than expected.
