Commitment to the Blue and Gold
Parramatta Eels forward Charlie Guymer has made a significant decision regarding his future, securing his place with the club until the end of the 2028 season. This move highlights his dedication to the team and his belief in the direction the club is heading under the leadership of Jason Ryles and his coaching staff.
Guymer had initially sought a release during the middle of the 2025 NRL season. However, after discussions with the club, he was convinced to stay and has now signed on for an additional two seasons. His commitment comes at a crucial time for the Eels, who have faced challenges in retaining local juniors in recent years. By re-signing Guymer, the club takes a positive step towards strengthening its foundation with homegrown talent.
A Rising Star in the Game
Known for his versatility, Guymer can play on the edge or through the middle, making him a valuable asset on the field. As one of the most talented young players in the game, he has already shown promise and potential. Having come through the ranks of the Parramatta junior system, he embodies the values that the club holds dear.
Mark O’Neill, the club’s general manager of football, expressed his confidence in Guymer’s future. He stated:
“Charlie is a player with a big future ahead of him. He’s tough, has a strong work ethic and leadership skills and a real team-first mentality. Just as importantly, he’s a quality person. He’s respected by his teammates and coaches, and he represents the values of our club with pride. We’re excited to see his continued development over the coming years.”
A Journey of Growth
Guymer’s journey with the Eels began in 2024 when he made his debut for the blue and gold. Since then, he has played 19 NRL games, although his appearances this year have been limited. So far, he has only featured once, in the Round 3 victory against the St George Illawarra Dragons.
Looking ahead, Guymer is set to be named on the bench in jersey number 16 for the Easter Monday clash with the Wests Tigers. This could mark his second appearance of the season, providing an opportunity to showcase his skills on the field.
Background and Achievements
The 21-year-old, hailing from Temora, has already made a name for himself in the NRL. In his first year with the club, he scored three tries and averaged 58 metres per game across his 16 appearances. His performance last year demonstrated his ability to make an impact even in limited minutes.
Additionally, Guymer has a strong history with Parramatta. He captained the SG Ball team in 2023 and was a former under-19 State of Origin player. These experiences have helped shape him into the player he is today.
Looking Ahead
As the 2025 season progresses, fans will be watching closely to see how Guymer performs on the field. His commitment to the Eels is a sign of his determination and belief in the team’s vision. With his talent, work ethic, and team-first mentality, there is no doubt that Guymer will continue to play a vital role in the club’s success.
His journey with the Eels is just beginning, and with the support of the coaching staff and his teammates, there is much to look forward to in the coming years.
