Emily in Paris is taking a new journey as the cast and crew travel to Greece and Monaco to film the sixth season this May. The Netflix series, which features Lily Collins as American marketing executive Emily Cooper who moves to Paris for work, has evolved into a more pan-European experience in recent seasons. Emily now lives between Paris and Rome, and she has developed romantic connections with men from both cities.
While specific plot details for the upcoming season remain a mystery, the fifth season’s finale showed Emily’s on-again, off-again love interest, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), sending her a postcard inviting her on a Greek getaway. He revealed at the end of the series that he had left his Paris restaurant and taken a new job as a chef on a yacht.
In an interview with Variety in December, the show’s creator Darren Star described Gabriel as Emily’s “big love.” He mentioned that the depth of their relationship comes from shared memories and experiences, both good and bad.

For the new season, key cast members Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, and Andrew Fleming will join Collins. The latest season concluded with Emily deciding whether to stay in Rome with her Italian boyfriend Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) or return to life in Paris. Meanwhile, back in Paris, Emily’s best friend Mindy (Ashley Park) was secretly dating Emily’s ex-boyfriend, the Londoner Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).
Emily in Paris continues to be a major success for Netflix, despite mixed reviews. The latest season achieved 26.8 million views globally within just 11 days, according to Netflix. It also made it to the top 10 list in 91 countries.

In a two-star review of the fifth season by The Independent, Katie Rosseinsky highlighted that the show relies on stereotypical tropes associated with European men. She noted that Emily’s ability to attract men who embody national stereotypes remains unmatched. For instance, Marcello is portrayed as a tall, dark, and handsome mamma’s boy working for a family cashmere brand, with a passion for truffle hunts in the forest—depicted with all the nuance of the Dolmio puppets.
She continued: “I look forward to the inevitable future series where Emily romances, say, a bullfighter from Spain, or a Volvo-driving Ikea employee from Sweden named Karl Karlsson.” Meanwhile, her other exes, French Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and English Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), now seem to be hanging out together in some sort of pan-European group for spurned men.
A release date for season six has not yet been announced.
