Jenny McCarthy Speaks Out on Jim Carrey Clone Theories
Jenny McCarthy, the model and actress who was previously in a relationship with Jim Carrey, has addressed the bizarre conspiracy theories suggesting that the actor has been replaced by a clone. At the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2026, when asked about these claims, McCarthy told People that “it was definitely Jim Carrey” at the César Awards last month.
The 53-year-old also noticed something different about her ex, whom she dated from 2005 to 2010. She remarked, “He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him.” This was the first thing she noticed. “I said, ‘Oh wow, Jim looks really happy.'”
McCarthy’s husband, actor Donnie Wahlberg, added, “You know, that’s the part that, sadly, people miss. We’re so obsessed with how he looks that we didn’t consider how happy he looked.”
McCarthy began dating Wahlberg in 2013, and they got engaged and married in 2014. Although they don’t have children together, McCarthy shares 23-year-old Evan Asher with her ex-husband, director John Asher. Meanwhile, Wahlberg shares two sons with his ex-wife, Kimberly Fey: Xavier Wahlberg, 33, and Elijah Wahlberg, 24.
In March, the Dumb and Dumber star sparked fan concern after he seemed to look markedly different when attending the French awards show. Fans took to social media to air their concerns, with one writing on X, “You can’t convince me they didn’t clone Jim Carrey…”

“Jim Carrey was cloned years ago. Something has changed behind the scenes to allow us to see unfinished and malfunctioning clones,” another added to the theories. Some speculated there may be a different reason for Carrey’s changed appearance, with another fan writing, “I don’t understand why people don’t think this is Jim Carrey! He just had some bad plastic surgery…”

The theories were shut down by Carrey’s representative, Marleah Leslie, who told Page Six, “Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award.” Gregory Caulier, the general delegate of the César Awards, also commented on the theories.
“Jim Carrey’s visit has been planned since this summer. From the outset, he was extremely touched by the Academy’s invitation,” he told Variety, sharing that the actor had even “worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words.”

Caulier shared that the The Truman Show actor attended the awards with “his partner, his daughter, his grandson and 12 close friends and family members.” “His long-time publicist accompanied him. His old friend Michel Gondry, who has made a film and two series with him, was there, and they were delighted to see each other again,” he continued.
“For me, it’s a non-issue. I just remember his generosity, his kindness, his benevolence, his elegance.”
