Spring Break Surprise: Python Found Lurking in Airbnb Bed
A relaxing Spring Break getaway took a terrifying turn for a group of friends in Punta Gorda, Florida, when they returned to their Airbnb accommodation to discover an unwelcome, slithering guest nestled between the sheets of a bed. What was meant to be a period of rest and rejuvenation quickly escalated into a scene of shock and disbelief, captured in dramatic video footage.
The video depicts a small ball python coiled on the bed, sending shockwaves of panic through the holidaymakers. One man is heard exclaiming, “There’s a f***ing snake in the bed,” while TikTokker Mary Chandler Hicks’ screams can be heard in the background. Her boyfriend, Clayton Robert George, also appeared visibly shaken, running his fingers through his hair in distress.
In a swift, albeit panicked, reaction, George is shown removing his shirt, hunching down, and carefully snatching the python. He issued a stern warning to his friends, “Nobody move, nobody move, nobody move,” as he gingerly carried the snake away, secured within his shirt. As he approached Chandler Hicks, who was understandably seeking refuge in the doorway, she urged him to take the reptile outside and dispose of it over the fence. “Oh my god, oh my god,” she exclaimed, adding, “I’m washing the sheets. I’m not sleeping on that.” The individual filming the discovery then chimed in, expressing relief that he had suggested checking the bed beforehand.
Unravelling the Mystery: How Did the Snake Get There?
In a follow-up video, Chandler Hicks provided a more detailed account of the incident, shedding light on the circumstances that may have led to the snake’s unusual placement. She explained that she and her boyfriend had returned late from an outing, leaving a bedroom door that connected the main Airbnb to a screened-in porch ajar. However, the door to the screened-in porch itself remained closed.
Upon their return, Chandler Hicks noticed a pair of women’s shorts in their room that did not belong to her. Further elaborating in a comment, she clarified that one of the friends they were staying with had tossed the shorts into their room shortly after they had departed, assuming they were hers. “I’m like, ‘Wait, somebody’s shorts are in here, like, that are not mine,'” she recounted. This discovery sparked immediate concern. “So I was like, ‘Wait, oh my gosh, was someone in here? Did somebody sleep in our bed? Oh my gosh.'”
The discovery of the shorts prompted a thorough room check by the group. “So we were like checking the room, moving the sheets – there’s the snake,” she explained. Chandler Hicks confessed to being utterly bewildered, stating, “Y’all, I had to like blink three times. I thought I was hallucinating. I literally thought I was hallucinating.” She expressed immense gratitude that she hadn’t simply gone to sleep without investigating further, acknowledging that the situation could have been “way worse.”
Boyfriend of the Year and the Aftermath
Chandler Hicks didn’t hold back in praising her boyfriend, labelling him the “boyfriend of the year” for his immediate, instinctive response in removing the snake from their living space. Once the python was safely relocated a considerable distance away, the group proceeded to wash all the affected bedding. The Daily Mail has reportedly reached out to Airbnb for a statement regarding the incident. This unexpected encounter undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the friends’ Spring Break memories, transforming a planned holiday into an unforgettable tale of a python in the sheets.
