Gemma Collins: I’m A Celeb South Africa Success Revealed

Gemma Collins, a true titan of reality television, is no stranger to the harsh realities of the jungle. Her previous stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2014 is etched in the show’s history, primarily for her abrupt departure after a mere three days. However, the indomitable “GC” is making a triumphant return to prove she has what it takes, this time in the brand-new I’m A Celebrity: South Africa series. Ahead of its highly anticipated launch next month, the reality TV icon has dished out some intriguing spoilers about the upcoming season.

The 45-year-old star, known for her role in The Only Way Is Essex, faced the gruelling challenges of the Australian wilderness in the 2014 season, a format designed to push celebrity contestants to their physical and mental limits. Still carrying the lingering disappointment of her short-lived jungle experience, Gemma has revealed that this new iteration of the show will be a far cry from her previous attempt.

A Tougher Challenge Awaits

Gemma will be joining a stellar line-up of familiar faces, including Adam Thomas, Scarlett Moffatt, and Ashley Roberts, for the second season of I’m A Celebrity: South Africa. Early indications suggest that this new series is set to be “quite a lot harder” than its Australian predecessor.

The Motivation Behind the Return

Reflecting on her decision to re-enter the jungle, the meme queen shared her deep-seated regret from her initial appearance. “I was absolutely so disappointed in myself that I gave up last time. It’s always hung over my head, so when they came to me again, I was like: ‘Yeah, baby’, I’m going back,” she confessed at Sky’s Up Next event on Wednesday night, where she was promoting her new docuseries, Gemma Collins: Four Weddings and a Baby.

Embracing her signature motto of “just having a good time GC style,” Gemma expressed her gratitude for the second chance. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity and to be honest it was the best thing I ever did cause I do well in it,” she stated with enthusiasm.

Her fiancé, Rami Hawash, admitted he was initially taken aback by her decision. “I was thinking: ‘Another day, another day, can’t be right. No, no way. Someone’s lying to me.’” Gemma, with her characteristic wit, quipped, “No one had faith in me.”

A Renewed Sense of Strength

Beyond the personal challenge, Gemma revealed a significant personal growth stemming from her initial jungle experience. “To be honest, I feel so much stronger since I’ve come out of the jungle as a woman,” she explained. “Self-esteem-wise, people probably think I’ve got loads of it, but doing something like the jungle, I came away, and I was like, wow, I am strong inside, really.” This newfound resilience suggests she’s ready to tackle whatever the South African jungle throws at her. Whether this inner strength will translate into a victory, following in the footsteps of season one winner Myleene Klass, remains to be seen.

Camp Drama and Whispers

The Big Brother icon is expected to bring plenty of drama to the camp, if recent reports are anything to go by. Rumours are circulating that Gemma has already clashed with fellow contestant and pop legend Sinitta.

According to an insider, Gemma allegedly dropped a bombshell in the All Stars WhatsApp group chat, accusing an unnamed individual of leaking stories about her to the press. In a move that sent shockwaves through the group, she reportedly pointed the finger directly at Sinitta, branding her “the rat.”

The source described the incident as reminiscent of the “Wagatha Christie” saga, with no immediate replies from stunned group members. This accusation cast a “massive cloud” over what had been a more harmonious group dynamic.

Reconciliation and Lingering Tensions

Several celebrities within the chat reportedly rallied to Sinitta’s defence, feeling that Gemma’s accusation was unwarranted and unfairly delivered in a public forum. Sinitta was said to be “incredibly upset” and attempted to resolve the issue at the in-person show launch earlier in March.

In a surprising turn of events, Gemma then reportedly approached Sinitta and acted “very nice to her face, brushing it all off.” This seemingly conciliatory gesture, however, did little to quell the unease, with reports indicating it “caused ripples amongst the cast” due to fears of who might be the next target of an accusation. Representatives for both Gemma Collins and Sinitta were contacted for comment.

I’m A Celebrity… South Africa is scheduled to return to ITV in April. Gemma Collins’ new docuseries, Four Weddings and a Baby, is expected to air later this year.
