Gladiators Crown New Champions in Thrilling Sheffield Final
The dust has settled at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, and two new titans have emerged victorious: Emily Bell and Josh McDonald, crowned the ultimate Gladiators Champions of 2026. The grand final, a spectacle of strength, speed, and sheer grit, saw the final four contestants battle it out against the formidable Gladiators in a series of gruelling challenges.
The episode was a rollercoaster of emotions for fans, packed with unexpected twists and historic moments. Among the standout performances was Emily, a marketing and events professional, who achieved a feat never before seen on the show. In a nail-biting Duel against the powerful Sabre, Emily managed to knock her opponent off the podium, a testament to her skill and determination.

Following her impressive victory over the Gladiators, Emily entered the Eliminator with a significant six-second head start against her fellow finalist, Naomi Church. The women’s race to the finish was a display of incredible athleticism, with both contestants neck-and-neck for much of the course. However, a momentary struggle on the balance beam proved to be the deciding factor. Emily capitalised on Naomi’s delay, surging ahead to conquer the travelator and secure her championship title.
The victory was made even sweeter for Emily, as it coincided with her 23rd birthday. “No words. That was unforgettable! I just won Gladiators on my 23rd birthday,” she exclaimed to hosts Bradley and Barney Walsh, her voice filled with disbelief and elation. Reflecting on her journey, Emily noted the historic nature of her appearance, stating, “We’ve made history as the oldest and youngest contestants and I’m so glad I got to the final with Naomi.”

The men’s final was equally captivating, with Josh McDonald facing off against Tyler Spence. Josh entered the Eliminator with a slender 1.5-second advantage. The competition was fierce, with Tyler initially taking the lead by reaching the top of the net first. However, a slip on the beam sent him back to the start, opening the door for Josh.
Josh, a former Royal Marine Commando trainee, demonstrated incredible resilience. He managed to regain ground, overtake Tyler on the beam, and powered his way up the travelator to claim the men’s championship. Overwhelmed with emotion, Josh dedicated his win to his family, saying, “We knew it was going to be a close battle and it could have gone either way. I was thinking about my mum the entire time, this win is for my family.”
A Surprising Turn for the Hosts
Beyond the contestant drama, the grand final also featured a rare and entertaining segment where long-time host Bradley Walsh participated in a challenge alongside the Gladiators. The 65-year-old presenter, typically found on the sidelines with his son and co-host Barney, stepped into the arena for a memorable first.
The Gladiators themselves hinted at the surprise. Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, known as Nitro, teased the event to The Sun, stating, “That’s why this final is a great one because he does something hilarious that you would not have thought he’d do.” He added, “He actually has a go at one of the events with one of the Gladiators. I was actually impressed.”

Montell Douglas, AKA Fire, revealed that Bradley’s approach to the challenge was strategic. “He used his brain,” Douglas commented on Bradley Walsh’s performance. “Sometimes that’s the strongest muscle you have. You’ve got to use what you’ve got.” Fire concluded by praising the presenter for giving it his all, saying he had “a good crack at it.”

The 2026 Gladiators final proved to be a landmark event, showcasing exceptional athletic talent from the contestants and delivering unexpected entertainment from its beloved hosts. The return of the iconic show continues to captivate audiences, proving that the spirit of Gladiators remains as strong as ever.
