Grant Denyer shares update after Bathurst hospital visit: ‘I’m A-OK’

Grant Denyer has shared an update following his hospitalisation after a car crash during the Bathurst 6 Hour race. The TV and radio presenter, podcaster, and motorcar racing enthusiast was admitted to the hospital on Sunday after a three-car collision took place during the event.

Denyer, aged 48, has since taken to Instagram to inform his fans about his condition. In a video message, he addressed the concerns surrounding the incident, stating, “Hi everyone. I know there’s a few crazy headlines going on out there that I’ve had a major accident and I’m in hospital, but I just wanted to let you all know that I’m A-OK.”

He explained that his time in the hospital was brief, lasting only an hour for mandatory checks as part of the regulations. “It was very minor. It was just a small scrape,” he said. Denyer described the incident as a result of another driver attempting to avoid a parked car, which led to both vehicles hitting the wall. “Everything’s A-OK. I’m totally fine. It was just a small scrape.”

Denyer also revealed that he was already back at work, heading to Melbourne on his way to film more episodes of Deal or No Deal. “In fact, I’ve just landed in Melbourne on my way to film another week’s worth of episodes with my new intern, my lovely daughter Scouty’s with me,” he said.

In the video, Denyer added, “I’m totally fine. Was nice to be leading the race, not so nice when a car hit me into the wall. But I’m happy, healthy and already back at work filming @dealornodealaus.”

He also shared a personal moment, posting a photo of breakfast in bed for his wife on Easter. “Made my wife brekky in bed today for Easter… and spoilt her like she deserves. Then back to Melbourne this arvo and shocked by the commotion. I absolutely adore my family. Love my job. And enjoy racing with @gameovergc. It’s a good day… not a bad one like has been reported. I am sorry.”

Denyer has been a familiar face on television since 2004, when he joined Sunrise as a weather presenter. He remained with the show until 2006, when he left to spend more time with his family. He later hosted Family Feud from 2014 to 2018 and has appeared as a host and contestant on various other TV shows.

His passion for motor racing began in 2005. Denyer is married to Cheryl Rogers, a former producer on Sunrise. The couple met on the show while she was still married to someone else. They tied the knot in 2010 and have three daughters together.

Denyer faced a significant injury in 2008 during a monster truck promotional event, suffering a compressed fracture of the lower vertebrae in his back. This led to a struggle with painkillers, which he eventually overcame through treatment.
