Harrisburg University has encountered financial difficulties over the past few years, primarily due to a $100 million debt associated with a science tower that was planned in collaboration with UPMC before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The university has since closed its campuses in Dubai, Philadelphia, and Panama, and it restructured its academic schools last year. Additionally, undergraduate students experienced a 3% increase in tuition.
Despite these challenges, Harrisburg University appears to be stabilizing, and Reber is eager to highlight its potential.
“It’s unlike any other university in the nation, and as much as it’s a small, STEM-focused private university with an incredible portfolio of programs at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degree level, I mean these are all programs that are leading to high-priority occupations,” Reber said.
