“I’m right there,” says Scotland’s Bob MacIntyre ahead of Masters breakthrough bid

Bob MacIntyre Eyes Major Breakthrough at Masters

Scotland’s Bob MacIntyre is confident in his current form as he prepares to compete in the Masters this week, aiming to secure his first major title. The 29-year-old golfer from Oban has been showing strong performances recently, with a near miss at the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio on Sunday night.

MacIntyre led the tournament by four shots at the halfway mark but ultimately finished in a tie for second place, just one stroke behind the winner, JJ Spaun. Despite the disappointment, he remains optimistic about his recent results and believes that consistent performance will be key at Augusta National.

The world No 8, who finished fourth at the Players Championship last month, expressed his belief that maintaining his current level of play will help him achieve success at the Masters. After a final round of 70, which included an eagle on the par-4 17th hole, MacIntyre reflected on his performance.

“I gave it my best shot,” said MacIntyre. “I trusted everything that I’ve got, especially coming down that stretch. I was proud of the way I played. Disappointed with some of the bogeys. Good execution, a couple of shots. I’m right there, I don’t need to worry about things. I just need to rinse and repeat again going into next week.”

Last year, MacIntyre chose to take a break before the Masters, only to miss the cut. This year, he hopes that his participation in the Texas Open has provided him with the necessary momentum to perform well at Augusta.

“I wanted to be sharp, or sharper going into Augusta,” he said. “I prefer playing my way in.”
