I’m saying it: Brian Cox fires at Margot Robbie and Jeremy Strong in explosive interview

A Bold Critique from a Veteran Actor

A veteran actor has made headlines with his unfiltered comments about some of Hollywood’s most famous names, and among those called out is Australia’s Margot Robbie. In an interview with The Times, Brian Cox delivered a scathing critique of several high-profile figures in the entertainment industry.

Cox took aim at actors such as Quentin Tarantino, Edward Norton, and Margot Robbie, who recently appeared in the latest adaptation of Wuthering Heights. The 1939 version of the film is one of Cox’s personal favorites, and he was particularly critical of Robbie’s casting as Cathy.

In a humorous impersonation, Cox mimicked Robbie in a faux-Australian accent, saying: “Keith Cliff! It’s me, Cathy!” followed by a mock greeting: “How ya doing, Keith? Awright?” “Yeah, I’m awright!” He then added, “Margot Robbie is far too beautiful for that role.”

While acknowledging that there might be something more “Gypsy” about the character, Cox admitted, “It may be a brilliant film.” However, he did not hold back on his opinions, continuing to criticize other actors and directors.

A List of Controversial Remarks

Cox’s critique extended beyond just Margot Robbie. He described Fight Club star Edward Norton as a “pain in the arse,” Kevin Spacey as a “stupid, stupid man,” and Quentin Tarantino as “meretricious.” Michael Caton-Jones was labeled a “complete arsehole,” while David Hare was dismissed as “see you next Tuesday.”

He also expressed his distaste for method acting, specifically commenting on his Succession co-star Jeremy Strong. Strong, who played Cox’s on-screen son, adopted the method acting technique during filming, which Cox found frustrating.

“He’s a good actor, Jeremy. He’s a wonderful actor. It’s just all the b——- that goes with it. You watch children – they don’t say, ‘What’s my motivation?’ They just do it!” Cox said, highlighting his frustration with the approach.

A History of Candid Opinions

This is not the first time Cox has shared his candid thoughts on fellow stars. He previously labeled Johnny Depp as “overrated” and expressed relief at having turned down the role of Elizabeth Swan’s father in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. He also criticized Ian McKellen, his former X-Men co-star, stating that his acting was “not to his taste.”

Despite his blunt opinions, Cox has not faced any significant backlash so far. However, his wife, Nicole Ansari-Cox, has often warned him to be more careful with his words.

“I think, ‘F–k it, I don’t want to be careful anymore! I’ll be 80 this year. F–k it! I’m gonna say what I want to say.’” Cox said, showing no signs of holding back.
