A List of Hollywood Stars Under Fire from Brian Cox
In a recent interview, veteran actor Brian Cox has taken aim at several A-list stars, delivering a scathing critique that left no one untouched. The 80-year-old actor, known for his sharp wit and unfiltered opinions, did not hold back when discussing some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
Cox specifically criticized Margot Robbie’s casting in the latest adaptation of Wuthering Heights, a film he considers one of his favorites. He mocked her performance with a faux-Australian accent, saying, “Keith Cliff! It’s me, Cathy!” and adding, “How ya doing, Keith? Awright?” before finishing with, “Yeah, I’m awright!”
He went on to say, “Margot Robbie is far too beautiful for that role.” While acknowledging that he might be wrong to judge, he added, “It may be a brilliant film.”
But Cox’s criticisms did not stop there. He described Edward Norton as a “pain in the arse” and called Kevin Spacey a “stupid, stupid man.” Quentin Tarantino was labeled “meretricious,” while Michael Caton-Jones was referred to as a “complete arsehole.” David Hare, meanwhile, was described as “see you next Tuesday.”
The actor also expressed his distaste for method acting, particularly criticizing Jeremy Strong, his co-star on Succession. Cox said Strong’s approach to the role was “b——-,” though he admitted that Strong is a “wonderful actor.” He added, “You watch children – they don’t say, ‘What’s my motivation?’ They just do it!”
This is not the first time Cox has shared his candid views on fellow actors. He once called Johnny Depp “overrated” and expressed relief at having turned down the role of Elizabeth Swan’s father in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. He also criticized Ian McKellen, stating that his acting was “not to his taste.”
Despite his blunt opinions, Cox has not faced any major backlash so far. However, his wife, Nicole Ansari-Cox, has repeatedly warned him to be careful with his words. “My wife keeps saying, ‘Brian, be careful. Brian, be careful,'” he said. But Cox is not concerned. “I think, ‘F–k it, I don’t want to be careful anymore! I’ll be 80 this year. F–k it! I’m gonna say what I want to say.'”
Cox’s unfiltered commentary continues to make waves in the entertainment industry, proving that even at 80, he still has plenty to say about the stars of today. His honesty, while controversial, has earned him respect among fans who appreciate his straightforward approach.
