“It Needs to Stop”: Jake Paul’s Sharp Response to Split Rumors with Jutta Leerdam

Jake Paul Denies Engagement Rumours with Jutta Leerdam

Jake Paul has firmly denied recent reports suggesting that his engagement to Olympic speed-skater Jutta Leerdam has ended. In a post on X, the YouTuber-turned-boxer addressed the false claims circulating in the Dutch press, emphasizing that they are not true.

“Seeing the Dutch media lying about my fiancé Jutta and I,” he wrote on X. “There is so much false information being spread about Jutta in the past years. It needs to stop.”

The rumors began in the Netherlands, where Leerdam is based, on April 6. According to reports, Paul had called off the engagement after a heated argument. The initial claim was made by Dutch media personality Yvonne Coldeweijer, who posted on her Instagram gossip page.

“Jutta has been dumped by her fiancé Jake! He is completely done with her! Oh my God, this story is so juicy,” she wrote. “So, two weeks ago, Jake dropped her off at home, took the ring from her, and broke off the engagement and thus the relationship. According to a very reliable spy, Jutta has been showing more and more of her true nature lately.”

Paul, clearly aware of these claims, responded strongly online. This isn’t the first time the couple has faced break-up rumors. Fans initially became concerned when they noticed a decrease in social media interactions between Paul and Leerdam.

The situation escalated further when Paul’s mother, Pam Stepnick, posted a cryptic message about marriage on her Instagram page.

“Marriage isn’t about finding someone perfect — it’s about choosing someone whose imperfections you understand, accept, and are willing to stand beside anyway,” she wrote.

“You don’t just marry their best days, their strengths, or the version of them that’s easy to love. You marry their fears, their flaws, their habits, their history — all of it. Real love is saying: I see you fully… and I’m still choosing you. And if you can’t accept the whole person — not just the highlight reel — then it’s not a forever kind of love.”

Leerdam and Paul officially announced their engagement in March 2025. They shared a joint Instagram post featuring pictures from the romantic proposal. Paul chose a mountainous backdrop and scattered white flower petals on the ground, setting up candles for the occasion. Both wore white as Paul got down on one knee with a ring box in his hand.

“We’re engaged,” Paul wrote. “We can’t wait to spend forever together.”

The couple first met on Instagram in 2022 but officially announced their relationship in 2023. According to Olympics.com, Leerdam spoke about the experience in the documentary Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson.

“Jake sent me a DM on Instagram and asked if I wanted to be on his podcast. And I was like, ‘Okay, let’s do it. Can be good, can be nice,'” she recalled. “I never, ever expected to date him, like never. Of course, I didn’t know a lot about him. I could only scroll on his Instagram and form an opinion like the whole world does. But he is the complete opposite.”
