Jack Black joins SNL’s five-timers club with Tina Fey’s induction

Jack Black’s Special Night on Saturday Night Live

Jack Black recently made history by becoming the latest member of the prestigious Five-Timers Club on Saturday Night Live (SNL). The 56-year-old comedian was celebrated for his milestone achievement, marking his fifth appearance as a host on the iconic show. His special episode was filled with humor, nostalgia, and surprise appearances from some of SNL’s most beloved stars.

The night began with a unique skit that highlighted Black’s status in the Five-Timers Club. The segment featured cameos from several famous faces, including Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, and Jack White. Each of them played a role in honoring Black and adding a comedic twist to the occasion.

Jonah Hill took the lead in the skit, interrupting Black’s monologue and leading him to the Five-Timers lounge. The set was designed to look old and dusty, covered in spiderwebs, which served as a humorous nod to the long-running nature of the show. This clever visual gag was a clear reference to how many years SNL has been on air.

Tina Fey, who is also a part of the Five-Timers Club, made an appearance in the skit. She entered the scene wearing an SNL UK First-Timers jacket, complete with a fur trim that resembled the famous Paddington Bear character. Her entrance was met with roaring applause from the audience.

Fey quipped, “You’re the first Black in the Five-Timers Club,” highlighting the significance of Black’s achievement. She continued the joke by referencing her own connection to the show, adding to the comedic atmosphere.

Candice Bergen, 79, also made an appearance in the skit. She joined in with a lighthearted joke about her past experiences, saying, “You know, I spent a night with Paddington back in ’73. Let’s just say he found something that he likes way more than marmalade.” This line added a nostalgic touch to the skit, reminding viewers of the show’s rich history.

Melissa McCarthy, 55, made her entrance by popping up behind the bar and asking, “Does anybody know where I can just get a drink? I can’t find one.” She then took aim at SNL alum John Mulaney, complaining about the available drinks. Her humor led to a funny exchange with Fey, who asked, “Those are non-alcoholic though, right?” to which McCarthy replied, “Not if you fill them with vodka.”

McCarthy then shotgunning the drink, saying, “Desperate times call for desperate measures.” This moment was followed by a cameo from SNL regular Marcello Hernández, who appeared as his recurring character Domingo. White then entered the scene, hitting Black over the head with a frying pan and declaring, “No cast members allowed.”

The skit concluded with Black performing a rendition of The White Stripes’ hit “Seven Nation Army.” He sang, “I’m gonna fix it by singing the world’s most rockin’ song,” as he vowed to revive the dying Five-Timers Club spoof. Jack White returned to the stage, playing guitar and bringing out wizard background dancers who emerged with dramatic fog.

White broke from the song to exclaim, “I can’t believe this is really happening. I think I’m in heaven. Am I in heaven?” His excitement was contagious, and the audience cheered in response.

“We’ve got a great show tonight! Jack Black is here,” he said before passing the microphone to the musician, who played along and said, “Jack White is here.”

Black then teased the audience with, “Stick around and we’ll be White Black,” as he mashed up their names before a commercial break. The night was a celebration of comedy, music, and the enduring legacy of Saturday Night Live.
