Jedward’s John Grimes Dives into Reality Dating with ‘Celebrity Ex On The Beach’
Get ready for some serious drama and unexpected reunions as John Grimes, one half of the iconic pop duo Jedward, is set to make his solo debut on the highly anticipated reality dating series, Celebrity Ex On The Beach. The show, slated to premiere on March 31, promises a potent mix of romance and rivalry as familiar faces navigate the turbulent waters of love, only to find their past flames waiting to stir the pot.
A sneak peek released this week offers a first glimpse of Grimes, 34, embracing his new adventure. In the teaser clip, he introduces himself to the cameras, joining a lineup of other celebrities all vying to find their soulmate.
When asked where viewers might recognise him from, Grimes, who first rocketed to fame on The X Factor in 2009 alongside his twin brother Edward, playfully remarked on his extensive television resume. “You know me from so much things that you can’t even remember,” he quipped. “Eurovision, Big Brother, X Factor. You name it, any show that you watch in your country, I’ve done the English version back in London.”

He continued, reflecting on his long-standing presence in the entertainment industry. “I have been doing this for so long, this is just another adventure for me. We’ll ride this wave together. It’s going to be iconic… I can’t even surf!” This light-hearted admission, complete with wave sound effects, has already generated a buzz among fans.
The teaser has been met with an outpouring of support on Jedward’s Instagram page. Fans have embraced the show’s premise with enthusiasm, posting comments like, “Jex on the beach, it’s gonna be Jepic.” Another fan excitedly added, “Can’t wait, let’s ride the wave,” while a third shared, “Can hardly wait for this Jepic adventure, John. It’s going to be strange to not to see Edward there, but there’s a first time for everything! Have fun and have good times.”
The Premise: Love, Exes, and Tenerife
Celebrity Ex On The Beach sets the stage in the picturesque locale of Tenerife, where a group of singles are looking for love. However, their romantic aspirations are soon complicated by the arrival of their former partners, who are strategically placed to inject an element of surprise and potential conflict into the villa.

Grimes, describing himself as a “total catch,” is on the lookout for a woman who is curvy, self-assured, and can match his energetic vibe. He’s not the only well-known personality venturing into this dating experiment. The series boasts a diverse cast of celebrities, including:
- Helen Flanagan: Known for her role in Coronation Street.
- Dani Imbert: A familiar face from The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE).
- Toby Aromolaran: Who gained popularity during his time on Love Island.

Toby, with his roots in Mayo, is also hoping to find ‘the one’ on the show.
Other contestants are entering the villa with very specific ideas about their ideal partners. Amy Kenyon, 28, who previously appeared on Married at First Sight UK, is seeking a flirtatious, tall man with a beard and a strong jawline.

Chase DeMoor, 29, from Netflix’s Too Hot to Handle, is returning to the dating scene after a successful stint in the boxing ring, having won the Misfits heavyweight title. He’s back in pursuit of love.
Dani Imbert, 27, from TOWIE, describes herself as a straightforward ‘girl’s girl’ and is keen to resolve any unfinished business with her exes.

Adding to the mix is Freddie Powell, 32, from Love is Blind UK, who is hoping to forge a genuine connection and build a lasting relationship. Izzy Fairthorne, also from Too Hot to Handle, considers herself a “10 out of 10” and, despite never having had an official boyfriend, feels ready for a meaningful connection. Her ideal partner should be tanned, have great teeth, and possess excellent banter.
The arrival of ex-partners is a hallmark of the series, and this season is no exception. Expect sparks to fly as former flames like Curtis Pritchard, Ronnie Vint, and Rogan O’Connor are set to enter the villa, inevitably crossing paths with their exes and creating ample opportunities for drama and compelling television.
Adding a touch of wit and local flavour to the proceedings, Daisy May Cooper, the acclaimed creator and star of the BBC mockumentary sitcom This Country, will be narrating the new series.
