Jessica Simpson is taking a new step in her personal life, having reportedly begun dating musician Thomas Eisenhood. The 45-year-old singer and fashion designer has been in a relationship with Eisenhood for three months, according to sources. This comes over a year after she and her ex-husband, Eric Johnson, officially separated.
A close associate of Simpson told a publication that the singer is “happy,” “in a great place,” and “excited for her future.” She has been spending time with Eisenhood during her stays at her second home in Tennessee. The couple met through mutual friends in the music industry, and Eisenhood has not yet been introduced to Simpson’s children.
Simpson shares three children with Johnson: daughters Maxwell Drew, 13, and Birdie Mae, 7, as well as son Ace Knute, 12. Despite their split, the couple continues to maintain a co-parenting relationship, focusing on the well-being of their kids.
This new relationship follows Simpson’s public comments about being single. During an episode of TODAY With Jenna & Friends in July 2025, she expressed her openness to finding a new partner. “I am single. I’m ready!” she said. “My type of person is one of a kind. I don’t have a look. I just like for somebody to be individually who they are and exude confidence without the ego…it’s hard to find, but I feel like it’s out there. I don’t need somebody to be supportive of me all the time…I feel like the independence that I have right now, if I can have that and give to someone else, that’d be cool.”
Simpson and Johnson, 46, announced their separation in January 2025 after a decade of marriage. A source confirmed that both are committed to being the best parents they can be, maintaining a harmonious relationship for the sake of their children.
The couple still shares their $17 million home in Hidden Hills, California, and have been working on selling the property. “He’s been living there, but they’re working on selling the house,” a source told the same outlet. “The goal has been to keep everything as stable and as friendly for the kids as possible.”
Despite their divorce, Simpson and Johnson continue to have a strong relationship. “They still [have] a great relationship and maintain a healthy co-parenting dynamic,” said an insider. “The main goal is the kids, but they’re moving toward next steps.”
While the focus remains on their children, Simpson is also concentrating on her career. “She’s focused on her music right now, her career, getting back to work, and that’s it,” said a source.
In January 2025, Simpson revealed she had separated from Johnson while “navigating a painful situation in [their] marriage.” “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them,” she said at the time. “We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
