Gladiators Legends Return: A New Era for the Iconic Arena
After more than 25 years away from the spotlight, a triumphant return is on the cards for some of the most beloved Gladiators from the original 90s hit series. The sports entertainment phenomenon, which first captivated audiences from 1992 to 2000 under the guidance of Ulrika Jonsson, has been revitalised for a new generation. The current reboot, helmed by the dynamic father-son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh, is currently in its third season and is set to welcome back a quartet of legendary figures: Jet, Lightning, Hunter, and Saracen.
This highly anticipated reunion will offer fans a unique opportunity to connect with the stars who defined an era of athletic spectacle. The legendary Gladiators will be appearing live at the Gladiators Experience, located at the NEC Birmingham. This immersive event will allow visitors to come face-to-face with the titans of the arena, reliving the glory days and experiencing the enduring appeal of the show.
A Legacy of Fitness and Fan Favourites
The Gladiators who are set to make their comeback have expressed their deep connection to the show and its lasting impact. Saracen, a veteran of the original series, described his return as an “honour and privilege.” He reflected on his journey, stating, “I never imagined that I would still be a gladiator over 30 years after the original show aired on TV.” This sentiment underscores the enduring popularity and cultural significance of Gladiators, highlighting its role in promoting health and fitness. Saracen proudly noted his contribution to this legacy, calling the current event “the next chapter of the Gladiator’s story, and this will extend into the future.”

Hunter, who joined the show at the young age of 19, echoed these sentiments, calling the invitation to participate “brilliant.” He acknowledged the profound impact Gladiators has had on his life, remarking, “I was lucky enough to spend many years in my twenties having an incredible time competing on those iconic games.” The prospect of new audiences experiencing the thrill of the show has him particularly enthused: “To see that viewers are now getting the chance to step into that world and have a go themselves is really exciting.”
Jet’s Perspective: From Gladiator to Enthusiastic Supporter
Jet, another iconic figure from the original lineup, shared her excitement about supporting the new generation of Gladiators and participants. She expressed her “gladiatorially great pleasure” in hosting and encouraging individuals of all abilities. Her message to contestants is clear: “Proving you’ve the speed, the strength, and the heart to be winners.”

In a recent appearance on her podcast, GladPod: The Gladiators Podcast, Jet offered insights into the dynamic between the reboot’s hosts, Bradley Walsh (65) and his son Barney Walsh (28). She praised their “lovely camaraderie,” noting how seamlessly they have taken the reins. Reflecting on her own experience of watching the new Gladiators, Jet admitted to a sense of awe and even a touch of competitive spirit. Having been part of the original cast, she confessed, “You cannot divorce the Gladiator within.”
When comparing the original cast to the new stars tackling challenges such as Duel, Gauntlet, and The Ring, Jet initially felt a surge of competitive spirit, thinking, “Don’t be as good! Don’t be even better please!” However, her reservations were quickly dispelled. She revealed, “Everyone had been saying before this production it’ll never be as good. It was and then some. And I literally couldn’t fault it at all.” Her endorsement speaks volumes about the quality and success of the rebooted series.
The Gladiators Experience will be open to the public from May 1st to August 31st at the NEC Birmingham, offering fans a chance to immerse themselves in the world of Gladiators, meet their heroes, and perhaps even test their own mettle in a few iconic challenges. This event promises to be a spectacular celebration of a television institution, bringing together past and present for an unforgettable experience.
