Keith Urban Takes Modest Gig Amidst Post-Divorce Adjustment
Country music superstar Keith Urban, a New Zealand-born artist with a global following, has reportedly taken on a more low-key role, performing on a cruise ship as he navigates life following his highly publicised split from actress Nicole Kidman. While Urban is accustomed to headlining sold-out arenas, his recent engagement saw him performing for an audience of just over 1,000 people aboard the Bahamas-bound Top Shelf Country Cruise.
This particular cruise line is known for engaging prominent country music artists, including Riley Green, Chris Young, and Lauren Alaina, to entertain its passengers. In exchange for their performances, these musicians typically receive remuneration and accommodation.
Sources close to the situation suggest that the gig, while financially beneficial, is a significant shift from Urban’s usual concert scale. “It’s the kind of gig that Keith would have turned his nose up at during his marriage to Nicole Kidman,” an insider confided to New Idea magazine. This sentiment has also raised questions about Urban’s financial standing, despite persistent reports indicating a net worth exceeding $100 million.

While Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman, both 58, reportedly reached an amicable divorce settlement that did not involve spousal or child support payments, the legal proceedings themselves are understood to have been substantial for both parties. “When there’s that much money involved in a split, the lawyers don’t come cheap, regardless of the outcome,” a source commented.
The insider further noted that, irrespective of the cruise gig’s specific pay rate, it serves a crucial purpose in keeping Urban occupied during this transitional period. “Cruise ships are not exactly the dream gig, but they pay the bills – and it gives Keith something to focus on. He’s trying to stay busy now that his divorce is finalised,” they explained.
Although specific financial details of Urban’s cruise ship contract remain undisclosed, a musician of his calibre could command a significant fee. Considering that passenger tickets for the seven-day cruise ranged from $6,700 to $19,000, it’s plausible that Urban’s performance would easily warrant a six-figure sum. “He’s putting a bright spin on everything right now, but singing on a cruise ship is a big change from performing at his own sell-out tour last year,” the source added. Nevertheless, Urban appears determined to maintain his professional momentum. “However, Keith is determined to keep working while he figures out, with his new management team, some exciting plans for the latter part of this year.”
Embracing the Bachelor Lifestyle
The shift in Urban’s professional engagements coincides with reports suggesting he is embracing a more solitary bachelor lifestyle. While friends and family are reportedly rallying around Nicole Kidman in the aftermath of their separation, the country music star appears to be leaning into his newfound independence.

According to Woman’s Day, Keith Urban is currently residing in Nashville, leading a “solitary” bachelor life when he is not spending time with his daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. The publication claims that Urban has consciously distanced himself from individuals associated with his past life with Kidman. “He’s now living a life that’s been completely purged of everyone to do with his past life,” a source revealed.
The divorce, finalised in January, saw Nicole Kidman retain the primary custody of the couple’s children. Under the agreed parenting plan, Kidman will spend approximately 306 days a year with their daughters, while Urban will have them for 59 days. The last public sighting of Keith Urban with his daughters was in December 2024. This new chapter for Urban marks a significant personal and professional adjustment as he charts his course forward.
