Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Cheer Son Joaquin’s Broadway Break in Death of a Salesman

A Night to Remember: Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Celebrate Son’s Broadway Debut

Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, recently celebrated a major milestone in their family’s life. Their youngest child, Joaquin, made his debut on Broadway in the production Death of a Salesman. The 55-year-old actress, who has previously spoken about some of her cosmetic procedures, shared a moment of joy with her husband and son at an after-party held at Katz’s Deli in New York City.

The event followed the official opening of the play, which also features notable actors like Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf. Ripa was seen smiling in a black blazer paired with a satin blouse, while Consuelos looked sharp in a classic black suit. Joaquin, dressed in a black suit jacket with satin lapels and a plain black shirt, was clearly the star of the night.

Ripa later shared some highlights from the evening on her Instagram stories. One photo showed the Playbill for the show, with the caption: “Opening night vibes @salesmanonbroadway.” Another image revealed Joaquin’s name in the cast list, noting that he graduated from the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre & Dance the previous year.

Consuelos was seen laughing with his son during the party, capturing a heartfelt moment together. The revival of Arthur Miller’s classic play is directed by Joe Mantello, and it features other notable cast members such as Ben Ahlers and Christopher Abbott. The show is scheduled to run throughout the summer, with its final performance set for August 9.

Mantello’s production is described as uncovering new layers in Miller’s masterpiece, revealing unexpected dimensions in a play that continues to resonate with audiences.

While Ripa was unable to attend the previews due to her own schedule, she was able to see one of the performances a few days later. During an episode of Live With Kelly And Mark, she shared how she initially wanted to see the first preview but was told by Joaquin to wait for the opening night.

“I said to him, ‘I want to come to the first preview.’ He said, ‘Mom, no.’ I asked why, and he said, ‘It’s previews. Just wait until opening night.’” Ripa recalled. “I didn’t want to wait. I wanted to see a preview and then go to opening night. But I respected his wishes.”

Meanwhile, Consuelos had the opportunity to watch Joaquin perform during the previews, though he kept it a secret. He joked about how he ended up bringing dinner to the venue ahead of the performance.

“I got a ticket, but now I’ve got this dinner with me,” he said. “I came to the theater with this little cooler pack.” He later praised Joaquin’s performance, urging anyone in New York to see the play.

“If you’re in New York, please go see this play. He’s amazing. He did such a good job,” Consuelos said. “It’s a three-hour play with an intermission. I did not blink. I was just watching him. There was a smile on my face.”

Ripa expressed her excitement about seeing her son on stage. “It’s crazy. Doesn’t make any sense… If you would have told me when he was a newborn, ‘Oh 22 years from now he’ll be starring on Broadway in Death of a Salesman,’ I would have thought you were on drugs.”

In addition to Joaquin, Ripa and Consuelos are parents to their son Michael, 28, and daughter Lola, 24. Last year, the couple shared advice they gave their youngest child after his college graduation. Consuelos said, “Slow and steady wins the race.” Ripa added, “Also, the less we say the better. Kids are more reticent to take advice from their parents, so we just keep it quiet.”
