Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest no longer co-host the show, but that hasn’t stopped her from giving him a playful ribbing. During an episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, were having a lighthearted conversation about undergarments when the topic of Seacrest’s past mishaps on the set came up.
Consuelos, who took over as co-host in 2023, joked, “You should make sure you have a cotton crotch.” He then turned to his wife and added, “Ryan Seacrest would split his pants here a lot!”
Ripa confirmed the story, recalling, “He’d split his pants constantly.” She then asked Live executive producer Michael Gelman, “Do you remember when Ryan would split his pants just doing random things?”
Gelman admitted, “Yeah, there were wardrobe malfunctions!” He continued, “He liked a tighter fit, but then he’d do athletic things…” However, Ripa interrupted, exclaiming, “Athletic things? He bent over once! He picked up a tissue and he split his pants!”
While Consuelos found the memory amusing, he isn’t exactly one to talk. He too has had his own embarrassing moment on the show. In March 2025, during a transition into the Stump Mark segment, Consuelos suddenly shouted, “My zipper’s down!”
“Did anybody notice that?” Ripa asked, while Consuelos revealed, “My fly was down the whole time!”
Ripa is also no stranger to wardrobe mishaps. During a December 2025 episode of Live, she was still getting dressed while sitting down at the start of the show.
“I’m not gonna lie, 10 seconds ago I was not dressed at all,” Ripa shared, fidgeting with her clothes. “Now, I’m sort of half-dressed.”
Her husband seized the opportunity to playfully flirt with her, saying, “Let me see. Let me check you out.”
“I’m missing a lot of things,” she said nervously, while Consuelos reassured her, “It looks good!”
Just like Consuelos had done months earlier, Ripa pulled the zipper of her pants closed in front of viewers, adding, “Look, it’s fine. We’re all together. I think my fly is up. We’re fine.”
