Key & Scott: Their Secret Olympic Medals Revealed

As the world turns its attention to the thrilling spectacle of the 2026 Winter Olympics unfolding in Italy, a range of personalities from the realms of entertainment and sports are not just watching from the sidelines, but are also contemplating their own athletic potential on the global stage.

Hollywood Stars Eye Winter Sports Glory

Among those reflecting on their Olympic aspirations is actor and comedian Keegan-Michael Key. During the NBA All-Star Legendary Tip-Off Celebration, held at the prestigious Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on February 13, Key mused about which winter sports might align best with his physical capabilities, should he ever embark on the rigorous path of Olympic training.

“I reckon I could snag a medal in cross-country skiing or biathlon,” Key shared exclusively. “I’d definitely need to put in some serious practice, but I’m not a terrible shot, you know.” This confidence, he explained, stems from his personal background, recalling his experience with endurance skiing in his younger years. However, he was quick to acknowledge the limitations he perceives in other disciplines.

“Luge? Absolutely not,” he admitted with a laugh. “But biathlon, I think that’s my niche. I did a fair bit of cross-country skiing as a kid – no downhill for me, I can’t tackle the moguls – but I was actually pretty good at cross-country. It all comes down to having strong quads, and I’ve got those!”

The fascination with the Winter Olympics isn’t confined to those contemplating personal involvement. Television personality Jonathan Scott, for instance, has been keeping a close watch on the competitions remotely. He’s been analysing which Olympic sports might best suit his and his brother Drew Scott’s respective strengths.

“Drew would be my toughest competition, hands down,” Jonathan joked. “I think I might have the edge in sports like hockey, while Drew would probably dominate in basketball.”

The appeal of the Winter Games clearly resonates with a broad spectrum of public figures. Renowned musician Usher, the incomparable gymnast Simone Biles, and acclaimed actor Michelle Yeoh were among the notable individuals who made the journey to Italy to witness elite athletes vie for coveted medals in person.

Team USA Ice Dancers Opt Against Appeal

In a significant development from the ice dance final at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games, Team USA’s Madison Chock and Evan Bates have decided not to file an appeal following a controversial judging decision. The American pair secured the silver medal, finishing just behind the gold medal-winning French duo in Milan.

Matt Farrell, in a statement, addressed the situation: “There’s been a great deal of thoughtful, and at times emotional, discussion surrounding the ice dance competition in Milan. Working collaboratively with Madi and Evan post-Games, we will engage in deliberate and purposeful conversations to determine the most effective ways to support them and the future of the sport. For the present, our focus is on joining them in championing the success of U.S. Figure Skating in Milan.”

The 24-hour window for lodging an appeal has now closed. While U.S. Figure Skating retains the option to submit a letter of concern to the International Skating Union, an athlete-initiated appeal is not planned.

Bates himself reflected on their performance: “We felt that we delivered our absolute best performance possible. It was our Olympic moment. To us, it felt like a winning skate, and that’s what we’ll carry with us.”

This event marked a significant milestone for the pair, representing their fourth Olympic appearance together and their first individual Olympic medal in ice dancing. Their impressive medal haul also includes two Olympic gold medals from the team event, one of which was earned at the very same 2026 Games.

The dedication and spirit displayed by these athletes, even in the face of challenging outcomes, continue to captivate audiences worldwide, mirroring the enthusiasm of celebrities and fans alike as the Winter Olympics unfold.
