Kim Zolciak’s custody crisis deepens as court orders therapy before return of children

Kim Zolciak’s legal troubles are escalating. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 47, has been temporarily stripped of custody of her four minor children, who she shares with Kroy Biermann, until she completes court-ordered therapy. This decision was reported by a news outlet on Friday, April 3.

Custody Ruling and Child Arrangements

On April 3, a Georgia judge determined that the couple’s four minor children—Kroy Jagger “KJ” Jr., 14, Kash Kade, 13, and twins Kaia Rose and Kane Ren, 12—will remain with their father, 40, until Zolciak attends four parent therapy sessions.

In addition to these four children, Zolciak is also the mother of two adult daughters, Brielle, 29, and Ariana, 24, from a previous relationship.

Zolciak is expected to be reunited with her children on April 13, according to the report.

Kroy Biermann’s Claims

The retired NFL star filed court documents on March 31 requesting full custody during their ongoing divorce battle. Biermann claimed that Zolciak has been “wholly unavailable” to their children and sought all decision-making authority.

“The facts surrounding [Zolciak’s] misguided parenting of the children, lack thereof, and blatant mismanagement of basic parenting responsibilities would be practically unbelievable to anyone not familiar with the circumstances,” he stated in the documents.

Biermann alleged that Zolciak missed court-ordered therapy sessions and was out of the country from February 26 to March 19, except for one night on March 9.

Kim Zolciak’s Response

Zolciak strongly denied her ex’s claims in a statement released on March 31. She described the accusations as “completely false” and claimed they were a deliberate attempt to defame her character.

“I spent five weeks away working on two TV shows to support my family and make sure my children are cared for—something I will never apologize for,” she said. “I refuse to be bullied or have lies twisted into a narrative about who I am. I will not stay silent, the truth is on my side, and it will come to light—no matter how hard anyone tries to bury it.”

Background on the Split

Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann split in April 2023 after 12 years of marriage. Although sources initially suggested the couple was trying to reconcile, Biermann filed for divorce a second time in August 2023.

The two have yet to finalize their separation.

Ongoing Legal Battles

The custody dispute is just one part of the broader legal challenges facing Zolciak and Biermann. Both parties continue to navigate the complexities of their divorce, with each making strong claims about the other’s parenting abilities and conduct.

The situation highlights the emotional and legal toll of high-profile separations, especially when children are involved. As the case progresses, further updates are expected.

What’s Next?

With the court-ordered therapy sessions now required for Zolciak, the next step will be whether she complies with the ruling. If she does, there may be an opportunity for her to regain custody of her children. However, if she fails to meet the court’s requirements, the situation could become more complicated.

For now, the focus remains on the well-being of the children and the legal processes that will determine their future living arrangements.
